It already basically IS a mosque, with big disks hung up from the walls showing quotations in Arabic from the Quran alongside Christian imagery left from the Byzantine days, and minarets put up around the outside that tower over the dome, one of the greatest feats of human engineering anywhere. Plus the fall of Constantinople occurred in 1453, making this the 559th anniversary. Sorry, but what the hell is the significance of this year?

These people and their perverted religion are a cancer on the human race and a cancer that is malignant must be removed. As long as we are discussing anniversaries, 1,390 years of malignancy is quite enough.

I’ve been there and it sure looked like a mosque. I guess that technically speaking it’s not but they sure fooled me.

Just so. As is their habit, the Muslim conquerors converted the cathedral into a mosque, and used it as a mosque for centuries. They really get a kick out of turning churches, Buddhist, or Hindu temples into mosques or building on top of their ruins.

Then, when Turkey was transformed by Kemal Attaturk into a lay government, the Mosque was converted into a museum. But it is still a mosque.

Now that the Generals have stupidly lost Turkey back to the Muslim extremists, it can be expected that the Museum will be turned back into an active mosque.

I was puzzled by the year, too. Muzzies have their own calendar, so maybe it means something to them.

And you’re right, while it is now a museum, the Muslims made it into a mosque.

If you’re anywhere near NY, go to the Byzantium and Islam exhibit at the Met...it was much less favorable to Islam than I expected. It showed Christian and Jewish art before the Islamic takeover.

You are correct all of the way.

The holy church of divine wisdom is still God's church, no matter what the muslims do.
