COLONIE The Episcopal Church must embrace change and diversity if it is to move forward, the presiding bishop of the 2.4 million member church said Friday.
"We need to discover ways to engage in the outside community," Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori said, in urging the 125 delegates attending the Province II Synod of the Episcopal Church to recognize that while many believe the church is an unchanging rock, it too slowly evolves.
"'We are beginning to discover a way forward into a new chapter in the church's history," Jefferts Schori said. "If we are going to save the life of the church, we are going to have to lose it."
The Episcopal Church draws strength from its growing immigrant population who know the value of community, Jefferts Schori said. Even though this is labeled a time of connectivity via the Internet, she said, there is a spiritual hunger that needs to be filled

Sir the Life was lost already.
1Co 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

You really haven’t a clue as to why so many, like me, left the Episcopal Church since the 1970;s, do you?
The Episcopal Church was once jocularly referred to as "the Republican party at prayer."
the ECUSA must change MORE? how much more? having orgies in the ‘church’?
what is going on is that a lot of Hispanics will join that church thinking it is a Catholic church. (some Lutheran churches do this too).
It’s called truth in advertising.
Does that mean lesbian and homosexual pratices as normal?
“These churches are falling apart because of moving away from their traditions.”
That’s right; when the core is thrown by the wayside for the flavor of the month, the activists desert as soon as they meet resistance on anything. My town is filled with former Protestant churches that are now Hispanic evangelical churchs; I don’t know where the Protestants go (they are still around). One of the area churches has a cemetery that pre-dates the American Revolution; I don’t imagine it means much to the new owners (it certainly doesn’t seem to).
I can’t speak for other parishes, but we’ll be making it very clear that we are not a Roman Catholic parish.
good.
With all the bad christianity and liberalism in some Catholic areas, I don’t mind “poaching” like I once did (better a good protestant christian than a liberal Catholic pseudo christian).
