I, too, am a Catholic convert...but in the other direction. I was an altar boy back when the mass was still delivered in Latin. After a lifetime of honest reflection I proclaim myself to be an agnostic. (Atheism is also a belief in an unprovable assertion.)
You are always a Catholic because you are marked with the mark of a Catholic Baptism. You WILL and CAN come back to the church.
