Both of the characters were asinine on purpose. Just to show controversy. It seems the comments show true prejudices.
I didn’t think the woman character was asinine. Just a faithful practicing Lutheran(LCMS or WELS variety) laywoman following what her church has taught for centuries. Disclaimer: I’m a Presbyterian(PCA) layman who has no problem voting for a faithful Roman Catholic(like Santorum) who shares my views on life, family and religious liberty.
