Your Book Is Written

Your book is written. All is told.
You who dreaded growing old.
Now you see the larger view,
In stories that we tell of you.

You were loved, and earned it well,
You loved life, the stories tell.
The book you are has pages spread,
Indications it has been well read.

A lesson to the ones behind,
The focus of a patient mind,
Your book is written. It will tell,
How love invested starts to swell,

It burgeons at the base and then,
It spreads its leaves to gather in,
The blessings that the world lets by,
In frequent downpours from the sky.

The rain that falls on every one,
The energy of warming sun,
The softened air that comes in breeze,
To stir among the graceful trees.

In this garden, you stood out,
Like laughter, or a gladdened shout.
The focus of a tranquil scene,
A splash of color in the green.

The book you are is written now,
With lessons that can teach us how,
To live within this garden bright,
Transforming it for coming night,

From dark and dreadful into joy,
To make of night a pleasant toy,
Where every soul has its own scent,
It offers as a sacrament.

And in the darkness, we may stroll,
Communing with each tranquil soul,
Who came before, and then passed on,
The wisdom that must serve 'til Dawn.
