Don’t put words in my mouth.

My argument is that Protestants are often using this argument of saying that we can only look at things that are in the Bible based on “sola scriptura”, but since that’s NOT in the Bible, it doesn’t make any sense.

If it was that important to God to have us not be confused, then why didn’t the Holy Spirit include it?

In other words, to me it comes across as another man-made doctrine...just the sort of thing Martin Luther was against. So I don’t understand the premise in the first place.

“but since that’s NOT in the Bible, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Using that logic no other books could be used. I’m not putting words in your mouth, I’m telling you what your words mean.

“If it was that important to God to have us not be confused, then why didn’t the Holy Spirit include it?”

So you think God wants us to be confused? That he wants his message to be too complex for the common man to understand? Really?

You don’t understand the premise of using Gods Word as the ultimate authority?

"So I don’t understand the premise in the first place.

You've been taught not to understand it. When Jesus overcame temptation or false teachings, He rebuked them both with a "It is written". You can follow the example of the life of Jesus or stay with Catholic dogma.
