Lots of interesting comments on this thread but there are a couple of aspects of baptism that in looking I haven't found here, so a couple of questions to whomever wishes:

1. John baptized for what purpose and
2. Why would someone baptized by John be baptized again?
3. Why would a sinless Jesus be baptized?

1. John baptized as a “type or shadow” of the Christian baptism for the forgiveness of sins and receiving the Holy Spirit that was to come.
2. because John’s baptism was a type or shadow, it didn’t place one in Christ, remit sins, nor give the Holy Spirit, therefore one needed to have Christian baptism that Peter preached in Acts 2:38.
3. Jesus was baptized as He explained “ to fulfill all righteouness”. The baptism marked the ceremonial beginning of His public ministry and gave us a picture of the One True God ( Father, Son and Holy Spirit )
