A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.
Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

It would probably be best if you avoided them then?
To: smvoice
Yes,, and I’ll say it again. There is no way for you to control my private prayers. None. You have no way of knowing what prayers I say,or preventing me from using candles, prayer books, the Biblical exorcisms, nothing. I can announce it on an open thread if I wish.
Anti-Catholic hatred is what it is. May God Almighty bless you in every way.

Is your position as Religion Thread Bouncer official or are you self-appointed?
Please shed some light on it and lay off the heat, CB.

"There is no way for you to control my private prayers. None. You have no way of knowing what prayers I say,or preventing me from using candles, prayer books, the Biblical exorcisms, nothing." Throw that exorcism rock over the fence and the dogs that howl the loudest are the ones it hits. It is surprisingly Hollywood-like how some are squealing and howling over the raising if the possibility of an Exorcism. I guess demons really don't like the thought and will protest and threaten no end.

You missed the question mark?
To: Natural Law
"And if I by Be-el'ze-bub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges." Mat. 12:27.
Perhaps you understand this verse. Perhaps not. Casting out devils is not always of God.

"Perhaps you understand this verse."I apparently understand it far better than you do. Jesus was establishing the premise for His own authority to cast out demons. In the preceding verse He said:
"If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand? - Matthew 12:26
He completes His argument establishing His authority in the very next verse:
"But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you." - Matthew 12:28.

There were no abuse reports preceding my decision to ban exorcism prayers offered on thread for other Freepers. I banned them unilaterally because they are "making it personal" - they incite flame wars. They make trouble.
An exorcism prayer posted as an article, not addressed to Freepers, would be acceptable.

All that is needed to be saved is this.....
Romans 10:5-13 5For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. 6But the righteousness based on faith says, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7or "'Who will descend into the abyss?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
8But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

i am happy you posted these verses from Hebrews, the Church accepted Hebrews as canonical ( even though no one is sure who the human author is ) because the book matches the Catholic Faith received from the Apostles perfectly. Paul wrote Hebrews...And sorry, the Apostles were not Catholic...They condemned your religion by the things you do...
