A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.
Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

My vote is retread. No noob jumps right into the fray already knowing all the players and sides.
>>Unless you have spent your entire life reading all sides on Catholicism, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodoxy.

"Matter of fact, the fastest way to get me to not do something is to tell me *everybody* is doing it." I hear that!
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
"If I believed as those around me do, I'd still be Catholic."
If I believed as those around me do,I wouldn't believe.
When I contemplate that,I can't help but think God is effecting a sort of slow-motion miracle within me.What a humbling thing that should be! I can hardly believe that I believe what I believe! God is unfathomably good!

Lets think one up, okay? Then we can get together and implement it I see you are still incabable of independant thought concerning worship of Mary.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
To: Religion Moderator
On the Religion Forum, “making it personal” is also disallowed, i.e. reading another Freeper’s mind, attributing motive to him or making the thread “about” him.
>>If the poster happens to be a Protestant who hates Catholics, they get a pass.
Why is it that you let the Protestants get a pass when they launch personal attacks against Catholic posters?
To: presently no screen name
I'm gonna have to agree with you there, pnsn. I do sense quite a bit of jealousy - especially since they aren't allowed to say they KNOW they have eternal life. Their leaders have convinced them that to say that is a sin of "presumption". Imagine that! For someone to acknowledge that God WILL save those who come to Christ by faith and to profess that God wants us to know we HAVE eternal life and that is why he said so over and over again in Scripture, is acknowledging trust in God. To insist that NO ONE can know, is actually calling God a liar. I would NOT want to be them facing him at their judgment. "But...but...buuu...I didn't think you really MEANT it!" That will not be a happy day.

After seeing you get dogpiled earlier, I’m inclined to agree.

I get accused of being a “pagan” by Presently No Screen Name for discussing the need for Christians to show humility.
Catholics on FR are sick of it.
To: MarkBsnr
Why is it that FR lets Protestants get away with personal attacks against Catholics?
To: daniel1212
Hello Daniel...nice to see you here again....the threads been rolling with the usual. Gets very frustrating as there's little actual discussion....then the dog pile occurs and it's lashing of teeth all over again.
Aren't’ there also similarities between Mormonisn, Catholicism and Islam as well? Seems I've been coming across those similarities now that Islam is being better known and understood. I also have seen “Chrislam” as the churches appear to be merging their services from time to time....dangerous ground the church is on these days.

I have a suggestion for your "better strategy" to change the RF. Knock off the attitude of accusing everyone of "ignorance, bigotry, and lying". Try to imagine that just maybe they are NOT ignorant or bigoted or lying. I guarantee just that will change the atmosphere at once. You don't even have to make it a New Year's resolution, you can start right now! You're welcome. Glad to help.

Rman21, the Religion Moderator does his/her best to keep things fair. We will get nowhere, criticizing. I have been tempted many times to commit suicide by mod, but have so far not done it. Occasionally, I ask myself why bother?
But let’s work WITH the RM and each other. Please. And we can work behind the scenes to develop a strategy to bless the Religion Forum this Christmas, maybe alleviate some of the bigotry.

Within the gates of His Church, Satan has failed. How can you possibly make such a statement in light of the massive infiltration of homosexuals and pedifles within the church.... Stunning denial!

RM, If it's okay for them to call Catholics Satanic, it should be okay for Catholics to post exorcism prayers. That was PERFECT! You asked that right after a post calling a non-Catholic satanic. You could NOT have timed that one any better, JA.

they aren't allowed to say they KNOW they have eternal life. Their leaders have convinced them that to say that is a sin of "presumption". Imagine that! Are you serious? Well then that explains much! Oh dear, how tightly they're entwined and kept away from what could otherwise be....makes you want to cry for them...and I thought I'd done that enough already.

The other Freeper has equated your group's beliefs with paganism. That is not "making it personal" and it is not a "personal attack." It is his opinion.
"Open" Religion Forum threads are in a town square format. Posters may argue for or against beliefs, dieties, authorities, etc. It is often contentious. Thick skin is required.
Thin skinned posters should IGNORE "open" RF threads altogether and instead post to RF threads labeled "prayer" "devotional" "caucus" or "ecumenical."
