Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

My soul is just fine. I wouldn’t want to join the Nicolaitans or their contemporary Evangelical successors.

Protestants appeal to their own consciences and the Bible is an afterthought.

So you don’t believe that salvation is by faith alone?

As a layman I don’t pass judgment on anyone. But you as an Evangelical layperson seem quite happy to pass judgement on the “Whore of Babylon”.

I don’t judge your soul. But you seem quite happy to pretend it’s the Last Judgment and you are sitting on the throne and you are sending the Catholics to hell.

You don’t know the state of your soul let alone anyone else’s, so don’t be so quick to pass judgment.

You don’t speak for the Bible either.

In contrast, even the non-Catholics do and will recognize some Catholics faith as legitimate even though they remain in Catholicism.

Wow. LOTS of mind reading there.

But, you didn't answer the question... is the Bible fabricated? Since so many Roman Catholics here claim the Roman Catholic Church provided the Bible, and since Protestants appeal to the God-breathed scriptures for authority, it would seem to me to be an easy answer for you -- if the Bible is fabricated, then we Protestants might be in a bind. But that could only happen if the Roman Catholic Church fabricated the whole thing.

Praise God and thanks to Him that is NOT the case!

Which “cult” is it that you would presume I “belong” to?

>>Why do you fear mystery and uncertainty?<<

I fear no mystery. Jesus told us to “fear not” because he gave us certainty in our future. He did however tell us to avoid deception and anyone teaching anything other than what was taught by Him and the Apostles. The writings of the Apostles are our only source of first hand knowledge. All others are nothing but hearsay.

Thank you for saying so mitch. I do believe there are many who read these threads but never post. Our prayer is that they will be enlightened and learn from what is said.

[...] when someone simply points out the verses in Scripture where GOD already passes judgment on certain behaviors.

Well, mm, that's what happens when a denomination relegates God to anything other than primacy in all things; in this case, God's word, God-breathed (and which they claim some ownership ;) is relegated to some sort of co-equal status with "tradition".

When that happens, there is no longer any issue of fear about their sins.... besides, why worry with God? Jaunt on down to the local priest and go to confession, say so many Hail Mary's and Our Father's and you're good to go!

>> and blood is not blood<<

Which organization is it again who claims to turn a wafer into blood but then claims it’s an “unbloody” sacrifice? Talk about denying that it’s blood after declaring it to be blood! >> But the, "I interpret Me" folks say, WORKS! AWK!! WORKS !! OOOOHHHH, NOOOOOO<<

Let’s ask Jesus.

“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” John 6:28-29

That whole thing is one of total conjecture and “could have been”. It’s amazing how anyone who has the ability to think logically could use that type of unsubstantiated information and conjecture to base their eternal future on.

Ephesians 2:4-10 4But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Works follow salvation. They don't cause salvation.

That's where the confusion with works comes in for Catholics. They think they have to add works to faith in order to be saved.

God tells us that salvation is by faith and works will be the natural outworking of the saving faith that has been exercised.

Show me where I did that.

I don’t judge your soul.

Oh yes you do. You've done it before to others.

Your own words. No? Or did someone hijack your account? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/2811552/posts?page=1506#1506

rzman21: Without baptism, you go to hell, period.

mm: Calling someone a heretic is judging their soul.

rzman21: I just don’t happen to believe anything you believe is scriptural. Like all heretics, you twist the scriptures to fit you liking.

Let's compare the Greek in 1 Timothy 3 with the Greek in St. Ignatius of Antioch's Epistle to the Church of Smyrna and the Didache. Scholarship suggests 1 Timothy was written about 62 A.D., while St. Ignatius's epistle was written about 40 years later.

You want to compare the Holy words of God with the fictitious writings of one of your alleged church fathers???

How do they dupe you guys into falling for this stuff???
