For the past five hundred years or so people have done the same thing Eve did when she ignored the fact that she was to be one flesh with Adam. They ignore the fact that they're to be one flesh with the Church and then, like Eve, just interpret everything to suit their own understanding and inclination. So, you're right, nothing new under the sun and those who see them self as equal to God always begin by claiming to be totally independent actors and not one with with the authority God binds them to.

No. She ignored heeding God's Word - she listened to another who put doubt in her mind against God's Word.

Just like many do today - they lean unto their own understanding in spite of what God's Word says that they should not lean unto their own understanding which is always a worldly concept which is not from HIM. His ways are higher as the WORD teaches. Again, she did not heed God's Word and one can learn from that - not heeding HIS WORD alone leads to destruction.

Well those being 'in Christ' are surely not independent for they know they are nothing without HIM. And He says no one will snatch them from His Hand. So they chose wisely being 'in Christ'. God doesn't bind anyone - those who love and accept HIM He indwells with His Holy Spirit. That's the only One anyone 'in Christ' would be bonded with - HIS SPIRIT who is their Comforter and their Teacher as God states in His Word.

Actually, Adam is the one responsible.

HE was the authority God established and he was given dominion over all the earth. HE watched Satan tempt HIS OWN WIFE and did NOTHING to stop it. He heard her misquote what God told him and did not intervene.

Then he watched her eat and when nothing happened to her, he ate himself. It was after he ate that the eyes of both of them were opened.

Eve was deceived. She did not *ignore* anything.

It was not Eve’s responsibility to make sure she was under proper authority, it was the responsibility of the authority, Adam.
