If your right hand causes you to sin cut it off! < Mark 9:43 >> What did Jesus meant? Here is the answer Beinsa Douno gives:
"Can our hand lead us into temptation? - Yes, it is possible. Every material thing, power or body that we possess can lead us into temptation...." According to Beinsa Douno - The hand is an expression/symbol of the reasonable/intelligent in man..... "If your right hand causes you to sin." If your unreasonable life leads you into temptations and gives one twisted/wrong understanding, one twisted/wrong theory, through which (which causes) your mind, your heart, and your will to enter in delusion, throw out that theory, it is of no use for you...... Every temptation is a great stumbling block in the right development of the human mind and heart. BD.
That is pretty much the concept in what Christ meant according to Beinsa Douno in the lecture he gave: "If your right hand causes you to sin cut it off....."
I know a fire storm is coming. Some will argue that Jesus didn't use symbolic language here, that people should be cutting off their hands and legs if they lead them into temptation so they can go to Heaven. (They will find some support from Sharia muslims). Others will look for something else to argue upon. Others may find that the interpretation Beinsa Douno gives is the right one. What is your thought on the subject?
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves ... For such are FALSE apostles, DECEITFUL workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (Matthew 7:15; 2nd Corinthians 11:13).
Wow, I thought that all died off finally.
What is it in this modern era with a need for all this wacko cult stuff?
Too much time on folks hands I guess...
Same lies - rewrapped and with a differnt bow.
Sometimes you just have to stand and stare...
zot
Always seemed like a slam to me, if you’re dumb enough to think your hand leads you to sin might as well cut it off. Sin doesn’t stem from the body, it stems from the mind, you decide what the hand will and won’t touch, if that touching is sinful it’s not the hand’s fault.
How can you know more than me on the teaching he gave?
You, don't know like a few others here, but you are quick to slander because you can't stand others not thinking and believing like those in your church. I believe in reincarnation and Karma, sorry if that is not to your likes. There are others that like my posts, and that agree with them.
If the point of the Christian journey is to join our father in heaven then coming back as a dung beetle or a frog seems to circumvent and negate that.
As far as “others” that agree with your posts I haven't seen too many, but we do have some other relgious nuts here so it's possible.
I know a guy who read "pluck out your eye..." and gouged his eye out.
I am more concerned about this one:
Matt 10:34 (B)Do not think that I came to [b]bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to (C)SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW;
I know this is not literal...a sword... but the messiah is supposed to unify familes...not seperate them. The real purpose of Micah 7 was it that the evil people seperated families.
You are right, it is a symbolic language. .... There is wisdom in it. Please share the meaning (if you find it) you think Jesus meant to give us.
“I know a guy who read “pluck out your eye...” and gouged his eye out.”
Did he really do it? How’s he doing now?
One is never so blind as he who refuses to see
Oh I cited several already in the previous. Reincarnation - bzzzzt, that's a non-starter. Of course for those who believe that their sin can be worked out in multiple life cycles miss the point that Jesus rebuked that idea. Since Jesus rebuked it - that stands to be a pretty NEGATIVE stance towards
How can you know more than me on the teaching he gave?
His teachings are variations of what dozens of gnostic/new agers have taught for decades now (dare say over a century). Same old, same old nonsequiter metaphysical babble.
but you are quick to slander
Well, given that you haven't proven the slander part. . . . However, you want to prop him up as an expert in what Jesus taught - then he better have his ducks in a row.
I believe in reincarnation and Karma, sorry if that is not to your likes. There are others that like my posts, and that agree with them.
Hmmmmmmm, guess there IS no slander here, since I nailed the reincarnation and associate karma stuff. What some here won't do is peal the siding off the sayings and reveal the source worldview underlying these 'sayings'. Lots of cults and false religions don't like that when it happen - screws up recruiting efforts. And as shown, he twists the passage as well as selectively quotes it to meet his ends.
Jesus commands you to repent. Jesus taught that there was no reincarnation or Karma - but that man had a sin problem separating him from God - that no amount of effort by man alone can bridge. For any to come here and say otherwise better have some thick skin and back up beyond an appeal to some guru lwt. Note that for future reference.
“The horrible reality that hell does exist.”
Yes, I have been thinking of late that if evil were not an active force...then it would have ceased to exist by now. It has to have a power behind it to continue on...to tempt us to do wrong.
