Religion Moderator, why do you keep telling me I am making this personal, it is pretty clear I am not
This is pretty clear case of discussion of an issue regarding the interpretation of passages and not a specific charge directed at an individual. I even pointed out that I am faulted with this failure myself and it is true.
How is this a personal attack when I specifically addressed it as a general fault that I am guilty of too?
Do you just have a knee jerk reaction and post stop personal attacks to me?
Two nights ago, you told me that it isn’t a personal attack if I say their Mother’s are Ugly yet here you have a problem with discussing Bible Reading Techniques.
Confused about Forum Standards......Believe Forum Moderator is Biased and wishes to act as Pharisees Temple Bouncer. i.e. Don’t rock the boat.
Tease the dog all you want; but don't cry if it bites you.
Again, "personal attacks" and "making it personal" are two different things. Personal attacks, e.g. "You're a slack jawed drunk", are not allowed anywhere on Free Republic.
On the Religion Forum "making it personal" is also not allowed. The forms of making it personal include a) attributing motive to another Freeper personally, b) reading the mind of another Freeper and c) making the thread "about" an individual Freeper.
The Religion Forum guideline is "Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal."
Ad hominems are usually the first offense in a flame war on the Religion Forum. They are also logical fallacies and therefore a sign of weakness, e.g. to argue that a person's theory is invalid because he is too young, too old, the wrong gender, flavor or background.
The Religion Forum is the only forum on Free Republic which has a dedicated moderator. The subject matter is particularly sensitive making that necessary and the additional guidelines to keep flame wars to a minimum.
