Ok, how do you know that Jesus would not use the Internet as a mode of communication? Personally I think He would be in SLC calling out the lds leaders and calling them blasphemers.
Paul would there preaching and people would riot.
You apparently have a very timid view of Jesus, why I do not understand. He said what needed to be said went it needed to be said. He never held back because someone might be offended. Sometimes the Word of God is offensive, why do you think the pharisees were angry all the time, they were offened by Jesus’ preaching.
What I am trying to figure out is why are you appear to be offended?
If Beck (and I believe he is) is interjecting a false Gospel into everything he is doing, Beck must be called on that and the momonISM must be examined at the same time.
It is not possible to explain to people what Beck is doing, if his name is never mentioned.
Jesus and His brethren called people by name frequently.
As a side note, for me it is irritating that you claim to know nothing of mormonISM but have spent so much of your time defending it under the guise of “no names please”.
And again, we are given authority to judge people/things according to the Word of God, we are to call out false doctrine and prophets. What we cannot do is judge a persons heart.

I appreciate that you are concerned about proper Christian behavior....I really do. However, as others have pointed out, I don’t find it sinful to rebuke the teachings of mormonism. Jesus commanded his followers to spread the gospel and to be wary of false teachers.

I never judged Beck’s soul or have stated anything hateful about him personnally. I have only pointed out that his statements and book proclaim unChristian doctrine, so he should’nt be viewed as a spiritual leader.

You seem so worried about maintaining the proper decorum and tone of this thread, but you don’t seem worried at all about false teachings. You have also stated you doubt whether some of us are true believers. Why don’t you give us the benefit of the doubt - instead, you don’t want any statement made about Beck, which I find strange.

Let’s assume you’re actually interested in carrying on a discussion.

First indicate where I have expressed any “resentful hate”? Let’s get the ad hominems out of the way if they’re so essential in establishing your pov.

Second, I’m an ex-mormon. I have been married to a mormon for over 20 years, our son is being raised in the mormon church, I still affiliate with many mormons, in Scouting, at work and in some social settings. Does that earn me enough qualifications to have leave to speak of mormonism?

Third, have I posted anything that is untrue or have I attacked Beck? I’ve been posting about the church, and what it is that Beck is tacitly supporting even though I’ve acknowledged that he may be personally ignorant of it. There’s nothing “bad” about being ignorant, it just means you don’t know.

No argument with the premise of Beck’s show. I don’t recall ever saying so either.

What gives you leave to label someone who disagrees with a doctrine that is attempting to co-opt Christianity as a “hater”? Are you not guilty of “hating” because you disagree with us? See how easy, yet completely unproductive this can be?

If you want to discuss something, come sit at the grown up table and quit calling people names because you don’t have any other ammo in your pouch.

So afraid of ‘judging’ - you fail to follow his other commands (John 7:24). Refusing to judge heretical doctrines is to be negligent in a crucial aspect of our Christian calling.

Amos 5:15 “Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate...”

Eph. 5:11 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

John the Baptist judged (Matt. 3:7), Paul judged (Acts 13:10), Stephen judged (Acts 7:51), Jesus judged (Mark 11:15), David judged (Psalm 139:19-24), (Also read Jude 23, I John 4:1, James 4:4).

Since it is not possible for you to know my back ground and my interest in historical prospective, I'll let your comment slide.
Jesus was a militant in the Spiritual sense. He was not as you apparently want Him to be weak. He is the Son of God. He had a mission. He carried it out.
Jesus knew what needed to be done and He did it. He and His brethren all paid a physical price for their words. Jesus with stood torture and the Cross for what He did. (Thank you Jesus) Your weak Jesus could not have done that.
I actually feel sorry for you that you have apparently relegated Jesus to a meek and insignifate looking and acting figure.
All the brethren who followed Jesus had different styles of preaching and spreading the Good News. If you choose to be meek and unoffensive then fine that is your style, my style is more the style of John the Baptist and Paul.
