I'm a little confused. Are they using these cells to somehow test the flavor of the product to determine if it is palatable, or are they testing for any physical damage the flavor additive might do to the human body.

Either way, using these fetal cells hardly seems the best way to perform these tests.

They’re testing top make sure the chemicals are actually making the taste intended. The cells have been tweaked over many generations of cloning to only respond to specific tastes, if the right sets of sells trigger the taste is as intended, if not back to the lab. The key really is to take out all subjectivity, not everybody responds to tastes the same, but when you’ve been working with the same cells (and their clones) over and over the results don’t vary anymore. It’s a little strange, but not nearly so horrid as some are trying to portray it.
