Alas, for you. Op-eds, such as this, are often published by the rag we Catholics refer to as the National Catholic Fishwrap, as if they were actually news. It is a left-leaning paper, and quite often heretical. As you are not Catholic, you can, I guess, be forgiven for having fallen for their shtick. Sorry to disappoint you, Alex. This article is, without question, incorrect and inaccurate. John 6, and Matthew, as well as the rest of the Word of God, still applies. And this old chestnut:
"But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth."

Check your targets. This piece appeared in the EWTN-owned National Catholic Register, not the National Catholic Reporter aka "Fishwrap".

Thank you for taking part in my blind taste test and confirming that the Pope's words sound left-leaning and heretical to you, too.

I need to point out that this is not National Catholic Fishwrap but the National Catholic Register. Please read the article and not just what Mr. Murphy excerpted. You will see that it is a good report on how Catholics study and read the Bible.
