Then contemplate Paul's continuing SIN!! "14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to dothis I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it."!! (Present tense) Paul was the worst of all sinners shrieking with joy as Steven was stoned to death . "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life." [1 Timothy 1:15-16] But do you have any doubt that Paul was saved? He was not obedient!! He violated the commands of God and Jesus!! He was saved by BELIEF in Christ as the son of God!!
We are saved when we recognize the Son of God as our only Savior from this terminal world.
We are saved when we realize that we are saved by Christ alone. We then battle sin because we have Christ in us.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
