I have adopted the free sects attitude
of Quix and metmom and rnmomof77.

The freer the sects the better, apparently.

Guilt-free hassle-free sects - sure seems appealing.

But all such sects leads to a life riddled with pain and emptiness and disease - and ultimately to HELL.

Once again: who characterized the Holy Spirit? Who dismissed his work?

What said is that Christ’s words failed.

Yep, you did.

Yessirree.

I saw it with my own two feet.

Ya know I feel sorry for people that have nothing to contribute to a debate but silly childish double meaning posts.. out of the abundance of the heart the poster writes..

Interesting how the natural man exposes the corruptness of his heart thinking he is clever

Sounds like a straw dog, to me.

We have had the Marian stuff explained to us with the tall piles of rationalizations and the whole skyscraper built on a shard of a toothpick of a Scripture for a foundation.

Understanding is not the problem.

I suppose we could parrot back to you what you’ve said for the 10,000th time to demonstrate our understanding. It just hasn’t been a priority to do that.

We

DISAGREE.

We FIERCELY DISAGREE.

We find the foundation thoroughly worse than inadequate.

We find the rationales, rationalizations and weasel words horribly absurd.

We find the historical evidence grossly lacking.

Worse, we find the BEHAVIORS THEREBY EXCUSED AND JUSTIFIED

MOST IDOLATROUS AND MOST BLASPHEMOUS.

AND THE ATTITUDES THAT GO WITH THOSE BEHAVIORS ARE EVEN WORSE!

It has nothing to do with NOT UNDERSTANDING your Marian dogma.

INDEED.

We are all far more transparent than many assume.

There are many who are teachable.....This is one of the main attributes of a child like faith.

Amen!

Mark 10
13 "People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.

14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.

16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

One man's weasel word is another's critical distinction.

We have a vocabulary which has grown and refined for almost two millennia. In fact, we have jargon, a spiritual jargon and a theological jargon. Nearly EVERY question (of which I am aware) that has been raised on the RF has been hashed and re-hashed by Catholic thinkers.

It is sometimes as hard for us to remember that our jargons ("real" "substantial") are simply unknown to our attackers as it is for us to understand theirs.

I think that most of your charges of daffynition are unjustified. Their provocation arises not from any intention to evade but from the different languages. I remember one time when you and I almost reached contact on what our side means by "real presence." You seemed outraged that it was so close to what many on your side mean by spiritual presence.

But of course! Your side has not troubled to understand, not many anyway, what we mean by substantial or real. Of course it's not going to turn out to mean what you think. And the differences between receptionism, virtualism, and transubstantiation are going to be subtle. They're only coarse when your side says we mean something other than what we mean.

But when we get right up to that point, that's when the daffinary or whatever it is comes out. So the conversation stops. The well is poisoned and what is an important distinction to us is cast aside.

It is as though the maxim of your side is, "The more delicate the operation, the blunter the instrument to be used."

Now, maybe that's not right. But even if it's wrong it ought to be useful data for finding a way to communicate.

Similarly rnmomof7's elliptical and hinting style just strikes me as a game. She SEEMS to be like a math teacher who leave two of every three lines of a proof out and expects the students to fill them in.

Maybe she's doing that. Maybe she's doing that and she doesn't know it. Maybe she's not doing that.

But All I know is that I am taken to task for things I never said, and when I ask HOW it could be right to say I said such-and-such when I didn't, I get ... an elliptical remark.

It's hard to believe that anyone who talks like that wants communication. And I have no shortage of people eager to tell me I'm wrong and then run away. All this meets no need I am aware of having.

I have to go fake being a responsible adult. Maybe later tonight.

Some people get involved in sects way too early.

The goal of some sects is to close you* off from other sects.

Such a sect’s goal would also be to cut you* off from another person’s contribution to the vibrancy and truth of your* sect’s life.

If that is the case, then your* sect’s repression could be the culprit preventing someone like me from entering into a dialogue of love with you*.

(*here I am using the generic “you” and not speaking about you personally)

1Cr 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

I guess until today I have failed to understand (a) how disagreement with a teaching could render one unable to argue coherently;

God's Word is nothing to argue about. You either believe The Almighty God and His Holy Spirit Inspired Word or you don't believe. It is impossible to please God without faith. Man made teachings can be used to argue with other man made teachings - they are worldly.

how that incapacity would be considered a virtue by many on your side.

You start out wrong you end up wrong. It's not incapacity. God's Word is a two edge sword - there is no such thing as incapacity with It.
