How can they build their faith on a morally corrupt character?

I think I struggle to understand how Mormons on one hand say they believe Jesus and on the other hand worship Joseph Smith. I'm curious as to how much they actually know about Jesus or how much to they hear or read his words? ( It reminds me of people who say they are christians and still vote for Obama.....)

Also what is upsetting is to see how their they have so many children. And these children are brought up in a false religion.
