Beck's Bogus Beliefs
March 2011
by T. A. McMahon
"Glenn Beck, the television and radio talk show host who is best known for his conservative political views, isn't someone whom we would normally address in our newsletter. Our concerns are usually directed at individuals, programs, or organizations that promote spiritual or theological views contrary to the Word of God. Beck, of late, seems to be making himself at home in that realm, and he's attracting many who call themselves Bible-believing Christians. ...
First of all, Glenn Beck is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He may refer to himself as a Christian, but he's certainly not a biblical Christian. The distinction is as wide as hell is from heaven: "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God" (2 John:9). Mormon doctrine is "another gospel" that exalts "another Jesus." Both false beliefs came out of the deceived and deceiving mind of Joseph Smith. Secondly, "our country" doesn't have "Christian roots," even though some are claiming that our founding fathers were true Christians. Many were not biblical Christians but Christians in name only, who followed the faith of Deism, Masonry, and the philosophy of the Enlightenment. Any early influence in America's history of a biblical nature very likely came from the Pilgrims and the Puritans...."
You should consider giving obtuseness and hyperbole a rest, it isn’t something we relish here on FR.
God bless you, you’ll need it if you’re incapable of telling the difference between pointing out the differences in theology and hate.
Point out the “false witness” then, otherwise, we can presume you are nothing more than a FALSE accuser.
Btw, since all of Christendom was in apostasy as mormons claim, how can any Judeo-Christian principles (living spirit), etc. have influenced the Founding Fathers Resty?
Keeping in mind that this was decades before JS purportedly rec’d the “revelation” to “restore” Christianity.
Quite a conundrum there. Chicken or egg?
Nothing in this world is “free”.
Someone, somewhere, either donated or paid so that others may receive a subsidized copy.
When Roy Masters dies and in three days is raised from the dead, please ping me.
That goes double for Joseph Smith or any Pope.
Resty! Hey girl, I’ve missed you :-)
Glda you’re still around and “enduring all things”
In a simplistic and paraphrased way, yes.
Although stating that all mormons believe this would be a bit of stretch because I don’t believe all mormons know half of this.
Mormons are taught not to perform independent research outside of Mormon circles, venues or publications because it could “damage their faith”.
This would explain why many of these beliefs and teachings are unknown to many.
“But since this is part of the Sermon on the Mount, a discerning soul would have figured out that there would be a VAST amount of ‘believers’ in the crowd; right? Matthew 7:1-2”
Well, Jesus was speaking to a multitude, but I don’t see any reason to think most of them were believers. Jesus was performing miracles and people were coming from all around to see him when they heard of this, so I think most of them didn’t know much about His teachings before that. Now there obviously were some believers in the crowd also, but the Sermon reads to me as if it is directed to those who don’t know Christ’s message and are just hearing it.
This post by T Minus Four is a great description of the "creed" of the FR Flying Inmans. Excellent summary, T.
We compare the teachings of Mormonism with the Word of God, aka the Holy Bible. It blows it out of the water
"All one has to do is pick up a bible and walk into the nearest bible-alone-teaching church or to their nearest born-again friend or relative. Most Baptist churches are a good bet. Calvary chapels, non-denominational Christian churches, any church with the word bible in its name. I worship at an assembly of God church right now but didnt even know that was its affiliation for months. Doesnt really matter. They teach right out of the bible.
IF thats too much of a step, just read the gospel of John. Then try Romans. Its all there to those who will see by the power of the Holy Spirit.
But the reason that most of us antis are not pushing a denomination or a particular church is because we know that where your butt is planted on Sunday wont get you in good with God. Who you give your tithe to or even if you choose or dont choose to tithe wont buy you points. There is nothing we can do or not do, eat or not eat, wear or not wear, that will have the slightest eternal consequence in and of itself.
Doesnt matter if you say certain prayers, raise your hands high in song, kneel, bow, volunteer at the homeless shelter, whatever! Those things will not buy you one minute in heaven if you are not saved. And no church can save you."
So Beck is the new arbitrator of mormonISM, finally an lds admits it.
Now, Mormons. Take your Bible. Go to third verse of Jude toward back of New Testament.
Cross out the word "once" and write "twice" (per Joseph Smith's "revelation")
There.
You can either believe Jesus' literal stepbrother, Jude. Or Smith.
But you can't straddle the line & try both.
Nope. I can judge everything and am required to do so - judge everything against the Word of God. The only thing I cannot judge is the condition of your heart, that alone is God’s to do.
HOW can this BE? We ALL know that MORMONism teaches that there WAS no spirit until Joseph Smith REVEALED/RESTORED him to the world! [elsie]
Good question, Els. What's the answer, Restornu?
ALL: Mormonism taught that ALL of the founding fathers were part of the great universal apostasy of Christendom.
If you go to Joseph Smith History, in the Mormon "scripture" book, Pearl of Great Price...and read vv. 18-20...you'll see that the unnamed entities who appeared to Smith told him that "ALL" of the professing believers as of circa 1820-1822 were "corrupt."
Mormonism has taught that the Christian church went AWOL.
Really? What if my religion involves smoking weed and strangling puppies in your driveway? That's ok with you Resty?
Who cares how OLD it is? Is it UNTRUE?
Instead of reading the Bible, it appears that Whatisthetruth just whips out his calendar...and uses that to assess the truth.
(You know, whatisthetruth, that's why progressives call themselves progressives...they want to jettison anything smacking of ancient wisdom...so you appear to define yourself more by the progressives' standard)
The LDS and RLDS have some differences...here is an article taken directly from the Salt Lake LDS regarding THEIR view of a millennium/post-millennium world. Bear in mind that this article is TO and ABOUT mormons, ie. the "righteous people":
People on the Earth during the Millennium
Quote: "At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan will be set free for a short time. Some people will turn away from Heavenly Father. Satan will gather his armies, and Michael (Adam) will gather the hosts of heaven. In this great struggle, Satan and his followers will be cast out forever. The earth will be changed into a celestial kingdom. (See D&C 29:2229; 88:1720, 11015.)"
Only temple-worthy mormons will be allowed into the "celestial kingdom".
Hmm, that sounds like the ploys used by the mormon defenders here. Instead of pointing out what is untrue about the claims, ridicule the source.
Next you'll be tellin us to pray about 'ole Roy and wait for a burning in our collective bosoms.
That is so true!
Oh really (rolls eyes). That must be one of those little insufficiencies of the bible. Those New Testament first or second person accounts weren't good enough. We needed some dude from Upstate New York to clear it all up 2000 years later by using a peepstone in a hat.
