At the church I mentioned above the pastor never knew how much any family GAVE. We never shook anyone down, we were careful to use the money in a way Scripture commanded.

Mine doesn’t. It defines the needs & Christians are cheerful givers, as scripture commands. We don’t ask non-believers to give anything...in fact we give them gifts for visiting.

You are talking about Churches that are not Presbyterian. I was an Adventist and yes, there are places that want to make more money out of you, like the money-making channel TBN, but that is not true of the PCA
