the PCA now appears on the cusp of becoming the largest Presbyterian body in the United States, with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church not far behind.

A church that is faithful to the Gospel is growing, and you don’t care?

Of course not,, a church has one purpose,, to fleece its members of $$$$$$$$$$. Sorry,, that's my view of churches of any flavor.

Not sure about all churches, I have helped run the budget of a PCA church, it was very frugal, books were open for all to see.

Sorry, but you can’t paint every church with one brush.

Thanks for the post. I’m a member of the declining PCUSA which is getting loonier and loonier at the national level and is seeing local congregations leaving in droves. I have a feeling my church may as well but the direction it will go probably would be to re-invent itself as some kind of vanilla, non-denominational church. At which point I will definitely leave. Seven generations of Presbyterians in my family. I know the Church’s history; I like its formal worship and beautiful hymns; and I like the tradition of a well-educated clergy. I will die a Presbyterian.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you do not have to make false blanket statements that most Freepers would find insulting.

So your telling me your church does not take money from its attendees?

PCA & EPC are great option - take it from one who was PCUSA for years. When they kept spending our tithes on such things as “Re-imagining God” conferences.

Take?

At the church I mentioned above the pastor never knew how much any family GAVE. We never shook anyone down, we were careful to use the money in a way Scripture commanded.

Mine doesn’t. It defines the needs & Christians are cheerful givers, as scripture commands. We don’t ask non-believers to give anything...in fact we give them gifts for visiting.

Let me guess, if you don't pay your fare share, you go to hell,, right?

With the precipitous decline of the historically larger PC(USA), the PCA now appears on the cusp of becoming the largest Presbyterian body in the United States, with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church not far behind.

It'll be a while yet.

Friend of mine was a PCA member some years ago. The church came to him with his "suggested" contribution for the year. He asked when was it the church began to charge members for their membership. The rep told him: "This is a business."

Nuff said.

Not in the PCA. Salvation is a free gift.

Ok...based on that statement, it’s clear you know nothing about Christianity, salvation, or scripture. Now I understand where you’re coming from.
