In regard to Damascus, you must be referring to Isaiah 17. You are right. Damascus has never ceased to be a city. It has risen and fallen in prominence. The power of Aram, in line with the prophecy, is long gone. It ceased to exist in the 8th century B.C., destroyed by the Assyrians. There are vast portions of Biblical prophecy which remain to be fulfilled — most of Ezekiel, for example. I believe in Christ’s imminent return. Paul says Christ’s return will not catch believers as a surprise, because we are looking for it. (I Thess. 5:4)
