Pope includes Hindu verses in prayers on Good Friday

HINDUS HAVE applauded Pope Benedict for including verse from ancient Hindu scripture Upanishads in the Good Friday Meditations and Prayers led by him at Roman Colosseum.

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a remarkable gesture from Pope and invited him to study more ancient Hindu scriptures, which were very rich in philosophical thought. He or other Hindu scholars would gladly provide the help and resources in this regard, if asked, Zed added.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, also commended His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for inclusion of a verse from India’s Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali and reference to peace icon Mahatma Gandhi in these prayers.

This year’s 'Way of the Cross at the Colesseum' Meditations and Prayers on Good Friday, led by Pope, included well-known verse from Brahadaranyakopanishad (“Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality”), line from Tagore’s Gitanjali (“Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service”) and reference to Mahatma Gandhi.

Rajan Zed stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.

Pope Benedict heads the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest of the Christian denominations. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.

Nobody worships the Bible. If you think that, you've been duped by whoever told you that.

I'll guess that's more RCC teaching. God's Word is a book. God's Word is their competition - that's why they don't submit to it as THE FINAL AUTHORITY.

Read with prayerful discernment. Read with awe at those who were followers of Jesus Christ and His Early Church. ,

Those writings read 'with prayerful discernment' are the key proofs of the error of many of the blasphemous doctrines of the RCC.

Christ's original Holy Church

Christ's original 'Holy Church' has never been a ruling hierarchy of sinful men corrupting His Word, preaching pagan and heretical doctrines as His truth.

It has ALWAYS BEEN individual believers gathered together in His Name:

Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

You will never find 'Roman Catholic Church' anywhere in the pages of Scripture. But you will find the church at Ephesus, Thessalonica, Corinth, et. al. You are correct the church is universal, but universal in spirit, in truth, in doctrine as laid down in the Scriptures, tradition must conform to those same scriptures and not deviate from them. That is the true original Holy Church, and still is.

The Catholic Church accepts God’s Word. All of it.

And when the catechisms, creeds, sacraments, decrees of the magisterium DEVIATE from that Word, then what?

Which one is your final authority?

Some will bear false witness out of ignorance

WHO is that 'some' you speak of? ME? I'm not ignorant to the RCC - I was born into it and grew up into it.

We must understand some will look to their hearts and find blackness and flailing desperation and lies.

I understand alright - I left that blackness when I left the darkness, deception and bondage of the RCC.

Are you saying the Almighty God would leave HIS WORD to men to be handed down? Think again....

"But Jesus would not entrust HIMSELF to them, for He knew all men. He did not need man's testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man". John 2:24,25

Colossians 4:16 And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea.

There was not a huge gap in time between the events and the writing. There are references to Paul's letters scattered throughout the NT. And before that time, the apostles used the OT Scripture to prove that Jesus was the Christ. Scripture was constantly being referred to as the point of authority to verify what was being taught and preached.

So, even if all the word of mouth teaching, tradition for lack of a better term, were what was eventually written down, there we now have it. It's called Scripture and there's nothing outside of that that is inspired.

NO ONE leaves being a child of The Most High God.

Some are looking for ‘religion’ - the stumbling block. It’s not about religion - it ALL about JESUS.

Before the Bible.....are you saying God abandoned his Gospel of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice?

Well there certainly is. Christ said so in regard to His Church. The Holy Spirit is with us even now.

Did men not write the Bible?

They were Holy Spirit Inspired. HE knew what HE wanted us to know - HE KNOWS ALL. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge HIM, and he will make your paths straight".

Acknowledge HIM, His Word. HIS WORD alone makes our paths straight for HE KNOWS 'HIS' WAY! It is up to us to learn HIS Way or submit to our/man's way. There are only two paths.

Y'all have

PROVEN OTHERWISE on FR

relentlessly for more than 10 years.

I used to think that a LOT of the allegations about the

Vatican Alice In Wonderland School Of Theology, Reality Mangling, Chronic Professional Blaming, Wailing and Whining Institute Cult

were Proddy exaggerations.

Y'all have

UTTERLY AND THOROUGHLY convinced me otherwise

by your own STATEMENTS & documentations

and your own behaviors.

Thanks to y'all, I'm now increasingly convinced that the Vatican is one of the worst cults on the planet.

1. The idolatries are worse.
2. The blasphemies are worse.

3. The heresies are worse.
4. The worldwide destructiveness is worse.

5. The seductiveness is worse.
6. The deceptions are worse.

7. The white-wash is worse.
8. The calling "bad," "good" and the "good," "bad" is worse.

9. The gilded smelly feathers stink worse.
10. The unmitigated arrogance is worse.

11. The lies are worse.
12. The Revisionist "history" is worse.

13. The mangled rubberized pseudo-'Bible' is worse.
14. The manipulations of the sheeple are worse.

15. The vain-glorious self-righteousness is worse.
16. The smug confidence IN MAN is worse.

17. THE INSTITUTION FIRST AT ALL COSTS IN ANY CONTEXT is worse.
19. The form of RELIGION denying the Power of God is worse.

20. The !!!!CONTROL!!!! phreaque-ism is worse.

I'm skeptical that many in the hierarchy would recognize the AUTHENTIC WORD OF GOD if they allowed it close enough to bite them in their inflated arrogance.

No, not true.

Especially what Rome calls *Tradition* these days. Claiming *tradition* does not give license to make up any nonsense that one wishes, as the Catholic church has done with all the Mary stuff for example, and claim it to be inspired and true.

Well there certainly is. Christ said so in regard to His Church.

Where? Show me the verses.

The Holy Spirit is with us even now.

While that is true, that He is with us now, since God sent Him after Jesus ascended, the Holy Spirit is not going to teach or reveal anything in contradiction to Scripture, the written word of God.

The Holy Spirit's job is to point to Jesus and to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

He enables us to understand what is already revealed, but NOWHERE does it say that He's going to give new inspired, inerrant, infallible revelation to us, especially anything that contradicts already established Scripture. Any spirit that does that is not of God.

As were his Apostles, who spread His Word, led by Peter, the leader of His Church.

One, Peter was A pillar of the early church but not THE leader of it.

Reread the books of Acts, especially the Council of Jerusalem, which James headed up.

He does know all. Believe his Word, believe his Promises to those He chose...”ye, Peter, shall bind all things...”

And just where is that quote found? Who made that up?
