The want to live, and let live, is a low moral value?

You said survival. Survival is a very low moral value. Killers want to survive. Crustaceans want to survive. Morality based on self-preservation is quite a low value system.

Survival, not just of the individual, but of the individual's own society, so that the individual's descendants are also able to thrive. The want to live is what survival is about. Can any society survive, if all its members lived in a gulag? You're slipping "self-preservation" into this as if to make it sound to selfish, when the entire point is about the survival of not just the individual, but the larger community, as a whole. Only the Golden Rule is needed to achieve this.

Humans will suffer greatly to see that their descendants are well-off. Is that selfish?
