The section I referred you to from my page (borrowed a cup of computer so I could remote into my home machine...)

Put our religion to "The Test"

"The Test" is simple, you can't believe what I say, for I may be wrong, you can't believe what Mormon detractors say for again they might be wrong, or lying. So who can we trust? We can trust the Bible, we can trust God, for God is "a God of truth and canst not lie."

The test is contained in First John 4:1-3
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
We are supposed to look for Gods messages by trying the spirits, and we will know which is of God because it will testify of Jesus. I have tried the Spirits to know if they would testify of Jesus and the Book of Mormon, and I have received an answer, yes the Book of Mormon is of God and Jesus is the Christ, my Savior, my Lord, my God. I wish that everyone could have this experience, thus, I offer to all a Free Book of Mormon and if you don't already have one, a Free Bible Too. I invite you to cut through all the yea and nay arguments with a simple prayer, I invite you to come unto Jesus Christ my master. The formula is simple, Get a Book of Mormon, Get a Bible. Read both, pray about both, ask God to testify of Jesus and ask God to reveal errors for what they are, and truth for what it is and listen for God's response. The response should contain a testimony of Jesus, or it may not be from God.

There may be those who will encourage you not to pray, they will use various methods to do this, I used to list the many scriptures from the Bible that command us to pray, but I am now only going to quote from the Book of Mormon: Second Nephi 32:8
8 And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.
The Bible teaches man to Pray, the Book of Mormon teaches men to pray, anyone who teaches something else is not of God.

Friends, brethren, beware of those who teach that God will not answer a sincere prayer from the heart. Seek God. Seek to do good continually, Do good to those who persecute you and despitefully use you. In the end you will in no wise lose your reward for seeking to follow the scriptures.

Amen.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say to pray to know truth. Feelings are just that, not objective measurements of truth. That doesn’t mean we aren’t to pray, but we are not to pray to know something that can be objectively discovered. Do you pray to know if gravity is true?

Additionally, Moroni’s promise is a ‘catch 22’. It says you must be sincere, pray with real intent, and have faith in Christ and you will get the answer the the BoM is ‘true’.

So...if you get an answer that it is not, then there must be something wrong with you (either you don’t have faith, you aren’t sincere, no real intent). You get yourself into this point where you keep praying until you convince yourself that it is ‘true’.

It is a common brainwashing technique.

Just a side question: What makes you believe the bible is true?

This is a serious question, open to any LDS person:

I am told that you pray to discover that the Book of Mormon is true, and than if it is, you get a "burning in your bosom".

What gauge do you use to determine if the bible is true?

Friends, brethren, beware of those who teach that God will not answer a sincere prayer from the heart.

Yo!

DUDES!

Beware of those who teach that God will ALWAYS answer a sincere prayer from the heart. If the ANSWER is already in the BIBLE, and you get a DIFFERENT one from 'god' - guess what!

It wasn't GOD who 'answered' you!

DU; have YOU ‘prayed’ about the Book of ABRAHAM; to see if IT was from GOD?

Get a Book of Mormon, Get a Bible. Read both, pray about both, ask God to testify of Jesus and ask God to reveal errors for what they are, and truth for what it is and listen for God's response. The response should contain a testimony of Jesus, or it may not be from God.

Notice the conditional "test of the BOM"....

I have posted here before that after much study, prayer and fasting, I received a message from the Holy Spirit that the Book of Mormon was not a message from God, that Joseph Smith's "revelation" was not from the spirit of God, and that Christ is the Savior of mankind. That Christ is with me always, and that HE is the only way to salvation through HIS grace, not through empty works or rituals.

This is MY testimony to all.

I invite all Christians to praise Him here, but I don't believe it necessary to "defend" your faith against a challenge from those who are misled. If any care to take up the challenge of reading the Book of Mormon and asking God its truth, please do so. But be aware that if you receive a message that it is NOT true, you will be told by mormons that YOU failed in some way.

Answer to above from DU: I'm asking you again, how exactly did you receive your negative message?

What exactly were you asking God in your prayer?

What exactly were your preparations for an answer from on high?

Please understand I am not trying to tear you down, but your actions are not consistent with your words here and I as an analyst must either conclude that you have left something vital out of your report, or you have falsified it in some way. I do not like to think that my Christian brethren would lie about something so important to the salvation of the soul, so I ask for more information to help me and any Lurkers to rectify the apparent contradictions of your story with your actions.

As you can see, "taking the test" is not simple...if you do not receive the answer that doesn't fit the mormon template.

This is a commonly misinterpreted passage of scripture.

Testing the spirit or what animates someone means to test the man or the man’s word’s or the man’s teachings.

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Or in the case of Joseph Smith, he should have put the “angel” Moroni to the test of scripture, which that demon failed, because “Moroni” testified that the Word of God was not true!

Joseph Smith is one of the false prophets that John is warning that you are to try or test, or put to the test.

Smith and Moroni both testified that Jesus has not come in the flesh, i.e. in D and C or BOM it says that Jesus was SPIRIT when Thomas put his hands in the wounds.

Joseph Smith, false prophet.

“angel” Moroni was an angel, alright. A fallen one — a demon — sent as an “angel of light” to deceive millions into Hell.
