I truly hope you find your way. Anything to do with Joe Smith is horses**T. I hope you come to realize that.

If the answer you received “directly from God” does not line up with the Word of God, i.e. the Bible, then the you need to remember that there are two sources of supernatural information in the universe. One is God and the other is the devil.

This is why the Apostle John warned us to “test all the spirits” because there is already a counterfeit Christ in the world, even as John wrote that. We are to beware any counterfeits, or false teachers or prophets who seem to be “Christian” but are not. The biggest warning Jesus gave for us in latter days was that we were not to be deceived by counterfeit teachers or religious leaders.

And how do we do that?

We do that just as the Bereans tested what the Apostle Paul was saying to them about Jesus, and Paul commended them for doing so.

We test all things by the Eternal Word of God, that will never pass away.

So, if you received an answer directly from God, it will line up in its subject and in its context with the Word of God, the Bible. This is because God can never contradict Himself, and He would never want you to be deceived.

That’s why it is so evil that anyone would try to amend, or add to, or twist around with the Bible. Anyway, test all the spirits like the Bereans, sir, so you and your family will not be deceived.

I see that you are promoting polygamy on FreeRepublic, although that seems to be in conflict with the current beliefs of your church.

President Gordon B. Hinckley, late Prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, stated the following about polygamy in the Church’s General Conference of October 1998:

“I wish to state categorically that this Church has nothing whatever to do with those practicing polygamy. They are not members of this Church. Most of them have never been members. They are in violation of the civil law. They know they are in violation of the law. They are subject to its penalties. The Church, of course, has no jurisdiction whatever in this matter. If any of our members are found to be practicing plural marriage, they are excommunicated, the most serious penalty the Church can impose. Not only are those so involved in direct violation of the civil law, they are in violation of the law of this Church. An article of our faith is binding upon us. It states, ‘We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law’ (Articles of Faith 1:12). One cannot obey the law and disobey the law at the same time."
