If it was originally posted as an LDS Caucus thread, how/why did it get moved to News/Activism? Totally the wrong place for it.

You're STILL here?

Nana: What about posting a caucus thread in order to ridicule a group ???

CW: That is a violation of the Caucus rules, and I’ve seen threads which had their caucus designation removed because of violating that rule.

I paid attention. And I was seeking the truth over being comfortable. After awhile the ‘pat answers’ the leaders gave me to questions I had just didn’t make sense or hold water no matter how much I wanted them too.

So, often the LDS think that people leave because they were ‘offended’ or couldn’t live the standards, or wanted to sin. I didn’t WANT to leave Mormonism, I was happy being LDS, but I couldn’t live the lie anymore. I wanted the TRUTH more than I wanted to be right and that is what led me out of Mormonism.

I know you won't care that you are intimidating people and cutting off free speech

Well, you could always simply convert to Christianity. Problem solved.

I could suggest a lot of things to help you solve problems, but I'd rightfully be banned.

Apostatizing from the Church God told me to join because of the arguments of men... Not an option.

Just having a hard time accepting some of their threads (like this one for example) that I find extremely offensive. I’m at the point that I’m not going to allow any protected LDS/Mormon Caucus threads on FR. You can’t post offensive stuff like this and expect Christians not to object to it. And I’ll be damned if I’m going to suspend or ban or deny any Christian from objecting to what he believes is the false prophecy of Joseph Smith. Whether Mormons will feel welcome here after this or not is completely up to them individually.
***That is the heart of the matter. I have often wondered why the mormons were allowed caucus status on their threads. It essentially elevates their heresy to the same level as the mainstream christian beliefs.

This does bring up the issue of who should be granted caucus status on FR. For instance, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have a similar level of heresy. Most christian demoninations fall under what C.S. Lewis described as “Mere Christianity”. I have found my own very basic litmus test, which is the deity of Christ: Do they believe that Jesus was GOD (Yes, YHWH God)? Or do they think he was A God (JW’s) or that we’re all gods (Bahai & others) or that we can become gods (mormonism, as far as I can tell) or that He simply was NOT God & we’re all mistaken (atheism, agnosticism, scientism). For my own purposes, I do not give anyone spiritual credence if they do not believe that Jesus was GOD Himself. Perhaps this would make a simple dividing line to determine if someone should be granted the status of caucus threads here on FR?

It is a bit like pulling the rug out from under these poor, unfortunate souls who have bought into the heresy of mormonism and felt they were welcome to post on caucus threads here on FR. I would prefer to see a more reasoned, methodical approach so that it cannot be chalked up to capriciousness.

Just curious - did you get the parallel version from an LDS (or “LDS friendly”) source? I assume you have the 1970’s version and not the 2 volume 2005-2008 version. Been wondering if the more recent version is worth the $20 each.

you don’t see, for it is spiritual discernment which is missing when you follow and defend the blasphemies from Joseph Smith and subsequent leadership of the LDS.

- - - - - -
Amen MHG. That is why I have the line from Amazing Grace as my tagline. I once was BLIND but now I see. When I was saved, my eyes were opened and I saw Mormonism for what it really was.

When I first left, I swore I would never be an ‘anti’ or speak out against the LDS Church, but after God opened my eyes and I was given discernment, how could I stay silent? What I saw as good in the LDS I then recognized as evil, even if it looks pleasing on the outside, inside it is rotten.

It breaks my heart to see nice guys like Norm so blinded and deceived and lost. How can I let them continue to be that way? I can’t for God opened my eyes and I pray He opens Norm’s as well.

An Open Letter to Mormons who are
sincere about their faith...

(and slightly embarrassed by the posts of self-styled
"defender-mormons")

If you peruse the Free Republic religion forums
you will notice a pattern. There’s a group of
Christians who spend a great deal of time posting
from Official Mormon Sources - both the Book of
Mormon as well as Mormon Prophets and Church
materials - real quotes from real mormon materials.

You will also notice that many of these Christians
are former Mormons who left Mormonism and come to
know the Biblical Jesus Christ and His Gospel of Grace.

They have a passion to reach Mormons to share what
they learned about Salvation by grace and apart
from the never ending treadmill of human works...

Of course, they are attacked regularly by a very,
small group of Mormons who have zeal, but no real
knowledge beyond what the Mormon Church has told
them. You've seen this with your own eyes on this
thread and others, so I'm not telling you anything
you don't already know.

Why can't these so-called "defenders" provide any:

… Objective Facts
… Objective Evidence
… Or Logical support

Anything OBJECTIVE that any reasonable person would
see and agree that it lends support the claims of
Mormonism.

Why can't they do this?

If Mormonism is true, why is it based only on
subjective feelings and why doesn't it have the
same kind of objective support the Bible does?

Has God changed?

Is He no longer able to weave His story into history,
into the fabric of human DNA, into the findings of
archeology, and into geography? Do you believe He has
become powerless?

I bet you do not believe that.

So why would God provide every kind of objective support
for the Bible's rich history and none for the Book of
Mormon? Why?

These "defenders" post links over and over again that
“address” things yet never provide an answer that is
buttressed by the ring of truth, echoed by history,
archeology, genetics, geography, etc.

If they could support the claims of Mormonism with facts,
you know they would. But it never happens here. You may
be new to these threads, but I've read almost every one
for the past 6 years. I can tell you that it is always
the same as this thread. No facts, no evidence, no logical
argument.

People deserve more than subjective feelings and useless
links to non-answers.

You deserve more than feelings and hollow links.

After reading both sides on this thread and others,
you may very well be wondering about what you were
taught when you joined the LDS church. You also may
be wondering how to resolve the lack of facts, evidence
and logical suport for Mormonism's claims.

You are not alone in wondering this.

Many have approached those of us who are Christians
asking where to find out more and some, even, to ask
how to come to know the Biblical Christ and some even how
to gracefully leave Mormonism and start a new life with
Christ.

Many here have already set out to finally and joyfully know
the true God and Savior. They understand the terrible choice
of being totally sincere about your faith, but increasingly
concerned that it isn't everything you once believed and hoped
for.

After coming to know the truth, they are on a path that gives
them the rest God promised to His children and the certainty
of His ultimate plan for them. Nothing brings them greater joy
than helping a friend who has the same questions.

There are places online that you can visit to learn more about
Mormonism.

If something is true, it can withstand any question, no matter
how tough. If it is false, it is better to know while your life
is in front of you. You can read these resources without fear.

http://www.exmormonsforjesus.org/
http://4mormon.org/ex-mormon.php
http://www.exmormon.org/
http://www.mormoncurtain.com/

Links may raise more questions and concerns and sometimes it
helps to have someone who has already wrestled through these
issues.

I invite you to private FReep-mail any of the Christians
on this thread to ask questions about the concerns you have.

We always do our best to directly answer your questions with
facts, evidence and logical support.

Take a step.

Roll the dice.

What do you have to lose at this point? And you have much to
gain.

There is peace and rest waiting for you.

All the Best,
ampu

It comes to no good.

For MORMONs; this is true.

Well; except for the one's who have been SAVED from MORMONisms clutches; due to the relentless work of the Flying Inmen and other Christians who take time to post the TRUTH.

Thank you Jim; for allowing us this Voice for the Lord!

So T. P. I took your challenge and it didn't take long to spot your deception.

The verses or portions of the JST verses that the Church wants you to have access to (that are in the POGP, exactly as I said) pop up printed when you click the footnote.

The portions THEY ARE ASHAMED OF, like Genesis 50 25-33 where Joe Smith wrote himself into he bible comes up as a link that goes nowhere. Also, NOWHERE on the LDS website is a copy of the JST version of the bible in it's entirety.

Sly, cunning and deceptive.

JST Genesis 50:
25 And it shall come to pass that they shall be scattered again; and a branch shall be broken off, and shall be carried into a far country; nevertheless they shall be remembered in the covenants of the Lord, when the Messiah cometh; for he shall be made manifest unto them in the latter days, in the Spirit of power; and shall bring them out of darkness into light; out of hidden darkness, and out of captivity unto freedom.
26 A seer shall the Lord my God raise up, who shall be a choice seer unto the fruit of my loins.
27 Thus saith the Lord God of my fathers unto me, A choice seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and he shall be esteemed highly among the fruit of thy loins; and unto him will I give commandment that he shall do a work for the fruit of thy loins, his brethren.
28 And he shall bring them to the knowledge of the covenants which I have made with thy fathers; and he shall do whatsoever work I shall command him.
29 And I will make him great in mine eyes, for he shall do my work; and he shall be great like unto him whom I have said I would raise up unto you, to deliver my people, O house of Israel, out of the land of Egypt; for a seer will I raise up to deliver my people out of the land of Egypt; and he shall be called Moses. And by this name he shall know that he is of thy house; for he shall be nursed by the king's daughter, and shall be called her son.
30 And again, a seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and unto him will I give power to bring forth my word unto the seed of thy loins; and not to the bringing forth of my word only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing them of my word, which shall have already gone forth among them in the last days;
31 Wherefore the fruit of thy loins shall write, and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines, and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to a knowledge of their fathers in the latter days; and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.
32 And out of weakness shall he be made strong, in that day when my work shall go forth among all my people, which shall restore them, who are of the house of Israel, in the last days.
33 And that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise I give unto you; for I will remember you from generation to generation; and his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father; and he shall be like unto you; for the thing which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation.
