I have had a discussion about my opinion of St. Paul with a number of intelligent, holy, Christian protestants who fully understand why his letters (those that are authenticated as his) would cause a problem with some believers. None of them were on this thread.
I recall the discussion well. As with many actual Christians it isn't what St. Paul actually wrote that is "loony", it is the bizarre Protestant interpretations and importance that has been assigned to them that invokes the ridicule.
