Oh, I recognize that comment! And sadly, I must agree that it is accurate.

The mod has already passed judgment on NL’s comments. There’s nothing that needs to be added to them.

And yet, you cannot resist....

And we are commanded not to sin in our anger.

And yet, most of us do. Unless you are saying that you do not?

From what I have seen of your posts, and that is a great deal, I would suspect that the prayers consist of "Please let them leave the Catholic Church, oh God, and rescue them from the tentacles of Rome." Who needs a prayer like that?

Catholics do.

They need to be set free from the bondage that the Catholic church puts them under.

Christ came to set us free, free from the requirements of the Law and the penalty of the Law.

The Catholic church has put them back into bondage with its rules and regulations, its ceremonies and sacraments, its own law that it set up in place of the one God gave Moses. only to warn them that if they don't keep it they are destined for hell.

Jesus offers us forgiveness, free and complete. He wants to save us. He's not going to hang us over the fire threatening to drop us in if we don't toe the line as the Catholic church says we must.

Such a warped view of God it teaches. No love or compassion or mercy there, just a fearful waiting for the other shoe to drop at any instant.

The only truth is found in God's Word. Go to it.

Sure it is, if the hypothetical Dr. E. has provoked enmity by vicious criticism of the person's most sacred beliefs. A hypothetical Dr. E. could easily provoke any number of otherwise benevolent Catholics to enmity.

Oh sure. It's all Dr. E's fault. Not the fault of the person who isn't obedient and exercising the self-control they should.

Galatians 5: 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

1 Peter 2:19 For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

Immediately, this discussion becomes stupid. Have a lovely day!

You’ve never given much evidence of understanding Scripture before. This post simply adds to that conviction.

No, I'm not going to even pretend that I've reached that level of spirituality

But considering that these are not a face to face discussions, there's certainly much less opportunity to say something one will regret later. One can always walk away from the keyboard if that riled.

With the length of time it takes to compose a response, that gives ample time to cool off or say no and wait until cooled off.

That I've had to do, but not often. I don't take stuff very personally any more. It's not worth the aggravation. And if someone wants to attack the Bible (what I believe), they have to answer to God for that. I expect it from unbelievers and it doesn't faze me or surprise me.

Except that much of what you preach isn't Gospel. He also commands you to live the Gospel. When are you going to get around to that?

If one can not define WHAT the gospel is then how could one know when it is preached or when it is lived out?

"For the record, just to keep the profanities on your side of the ledge where they belong,"

For the record references to hell for ungodly conduct is not profane because I hold neither you nor Calvin as sacred in any way. What is profane is your subordination of the Incarnate Word to one of his instruments and the continuing smear campaign you carry out in a daily basis against the Church that Jesus founded and his successors.

And for the record hell is a very real possibility for you because there is nothing scriptural that negates your contempt for Christianity, Catholicism and Catholics. Election, predestination, "once saved, always saved", and the lot are all a bunch of new-aged mumbo-jumbo that far too many buy into to excuse bad behavior and help them sleep at night. Calvinism is nothing more than the refuge of the reprobate. One need only read these threads for proof.

"Ironically, the Catholic church is the master of legalism leaving its adherents in terror of fire and brimstone..."

Ironically, your argument isn't worth the cyberspace it is written on because the Catholic Church does not teach "fire and brimstone". It teaches that the greatest pain of hell will be the eternal loss of the joy of being in the presence of God. It took those kindly "reformers" to scare the children and peasants with something that horrible in this life.

"I would suspect that Natural Law is rightfully angry..."

Not angry, simply incredulous. We see the question "what is the Gospel" asked time and time again and every Catholic response is rejected without consideration. For the morbidly anti-Catholics the Gospel is nothing more than an instrument with which to beat your enemies. It is not a code of conduct by which to live and to achieve Salvation, it is the framework for word games and the basis of ridicule.

"The mod has already passed judgment on NL’s comments. There’s nothing that needs to be added to them."

What a contradiction you are. You deny the very concept of Papal infallibility but staunchly defend Mod infallibility without even knowing that the mod and I have discussed the objectionable term and concluded it really wasn't objectionable. Then in the wake of that you dredge the issue up again to signify that the mods work was insufficient punishment. Who do you believe the final judge should be on this if not the mod? You? The harpie coven?

And then, they say "Why can't Catholics answer this question?"

Ridiculous.
