In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

" It’s like they are trying to prove something by asking questions — when an answer is given, their response is “WRONG!"

They do not ask questions, they frame an insult in the form of a question and demand responses in the perpetuation of their game of Catholic baiting with "predestined" shock and outrage regardless of the answer. The most vile and disgusting among them carry this game from thread to thread and abuse the Freepmail when anyone dare to either confront or ignore them.

They game the rules and mods continually relying on the ignorance, indifference or tacit agreement of the mods by using the knowledge that Catholics are more offended by insults and slander of their Church and the family we call the Communion of Saints than we are by anything said about us personally. The move through a listing of hot button insults trying to provoke, often posting the most obscene and reprehensible, yet acceptably "worded" accusations with their fingers on the abuse buttom if the response isn't to their liking.

They don't care what you or I really think or believe, the truth is irrelevant. They are simply trying to deceive God by appearing to be pious and rightous and masking their black hearts. Most are just too damned wrapped up in themselves and too twisted to recognize it. To hell with them. They have built a church upon a dungheap and we should not be surprised when flies and maggots emerge to offend the Christian world.

Posts 343, 380, 381 and 382 are not examples of charity and maturity - but neither charity nor maturity are prerequisites for posting on "open" Religion Forum threads.

That said, post 380 and 382 (by quoting 380) were graphic and therefore removed.

In the future, remember that posters only throw spitwads when they have no ammunition, count it a "win" when it happens and either grow some skin or ignore "open" Religion Forum threads altogether.

“the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire” (Mt 3:12, several similar)

“present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any; such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish” (Eph. 5:27)

As a Bible-believing Christian I celebrate the purification of the Catholic Church every time it occurs.

The difference is that the Scriptures are speaking of a spiritual purification while the Inquisition was a blood bath whereby the papacy literally burned innocent men, women and children.

Rome has always had a difficult time understanding the difference.

To wish for a return to the Inquisition is sick and reveals a diseased mind and spirit.

343? How so? None of those groups or people are Catholic or Orthodox. The reformation fathers say to interpret the bible for yourself as long as you/they are not RC or Orthodox. They did. There are many groups and people who followed that formula. The list could go on forever.

How so?

Two of the references were to Protestant hate mongers, one of them was a thinly-veiled reference to a hate monger banned altogether on this forum. The third was a reference to a homosexual Protestant religious authority.

It is the equivalent to a response claim that miscreant behavior by Catholic religious authorities is accepted/proliferated by Catholic beliefs.

Neither accusation is charitable or mature although both should be expected in "open" Religion Forum debate.

Wow. Really?

To hell with them.

"Wow. Really?"

Really! I'm sure you never expected to actually see it in print, but you can't be surprised that it has been recognized.

Does Romans 12:20 compel you to works of Beatitude or did Calvin give you a work around on that one too? remember, that God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten Son, not a French shyster with a new biblical legal code. Calvinism did that.

To hell with them."

That is purely a function of your doing (its that darned works thing again).

There’s plenty of evidence that fill-in and other sphere’s mod(s) at least one or two . . .

are emphatically protective of RC’s and punitive toward non RC’s.

And stilllllll they whine and wail.

What a bunch of thin-skinned . . . bunch of rabid religionists with no significant historical or Biblical evidence to support their idolatries and blasphemies.

The biggest bunch of . . . stuff . . . they have on their side . . . are the piles of white hankys and the piles of wails and whines.

Alex, would you be interested in, willing to start a list . . . of those RC’s who’ve been warned XX times about growing a thicker skin or leaving open threads altogether?

The way you've written the above makes it look like I wrote the "to hell with them."

For the record, just to keep the profanities on your side of the ledge where they belong, YOU wrote that comment, not me.

Since you seem to be having an attitude problem, this might help. It IS Jesus own words you know.

For as often as these passages are supposed to be read at mass, you ought to be familiar with them.

Matthew 5:1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
(The Beatitudes)
He said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

You'd be surprised at the number of people who pray for you and your other likewise charitable Catholic cohorts.

If I interpret that in the thread context, I begin to wonder if it is possible you are advising your enemies (whoever THEY are) to give you whatever you want/need, in order to make you feel ashamed.

However, I doubt that the capacity for shame exists in the un-Christian anti-Catholic bigots, I have seen no evidence of it from any OPC whatsoever on the RF, although some of the reformed seem to have retained the blessing of shame.

And why would an OPC have an enemy? Christ told us to love everyone as our neighbor, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. May we all be blessed with all our heart's desire, may Christ always hold us all close to Him, may we all enjoy eternity in peace, in the arms of Almighty God.

From what I have seen of your posts, and that is a great deal, I would suspect that the prayers consist of "Please let them leave the Catholic Church, oh God, and rescue them from the tentacles of Rome."

Who needs a prayer like that? I have seen no evidence from any of the reformed that they can pray with any neighborly love. I pray that we ALL be delivered from evil.

The only work Jesus commanded us to do is this....

John 6:29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

Ironically, the Catholic church is the master of legalism leaving its adherents in terror of fire and brimstone for not having made the grade in their own works that the Catholic church set up for them to do.

The Law can save no one and no replacement law that man sets up can save anyone either.

Only by throwing yourself on the mercy of the court, so to speak, and asking God for forgiveness can do that. And once He does, it's a done deal. He seals us with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. THAT's security.

Are you really that clueless?

The enemy can be an enemy not out of the OPC's choosing but out of the enemy's choosing.

If someone is attacking Dr. E, that person is her enemy whether she chooses it or not. It's no reflection on HER attitude towards the person.

I would suspect that Natural Law is rightfully angry, that the only attitude problem is the anti-Catholic bigotry. That comment comes perilously close to reading Natural Law's mind, but surely you would not do that.

Your preaching of scripture is normally a spiritual work of mercy, but in this instance, it looks much more like a pharisaical expression of a feeling of superiority over the "poor" Catholic. I could be mistaken, of course, and if no one is feeling superior here, than I beg your pardon.

Sure it is, if the hypothetical Dr. E. has provoked enmity by vicious criticism of the person's most sacred beliefs. A hypothetical Dr. E. could easily provoke any number of otherwise benevolent Catholics to enmity.

And we are commanded not to sin in our anger.

The mod has already passed judgment on NL’s comments. There’s nothing that needs to be added to them.

How would you feel if I said about Catholics and the Catholic church....,

“They don’t care what you or I really think or believe, the truth is irrelevant. “

???

Is that an example of Catholic charity and piety?

It’s actually an example of what I’ve encountered from Catholics most of my life.

No thanks.
