In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

You are again moving the goal posts to "prove" yourself right.

Are you making this post about me?

"You know (pause) the GOSPEL. Sadly, many FRoman Catholics have given us plenty of evidence they do NOT "know the Gospel." When asked, they recite the first four books of the New Testament, and leave it at that, seemingly unaware Christ referenced and preached "the Gospel," and therefore He actually spoke about an idea, a situation, a reality, a truth that seems to escape RC apologists and which they clearly cannot articulate.

When I was a Roman Catholic, I thought the "good news" was having the mass be over in 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes. ;)

The latter is what the Church teaches based on the knowledge that the Church revceived from Mary herself. The former is an invention of mariophobic Protestants who seriously think that the Mother of God, after giving a miraculous birth to the divine Son, proceeded to fool around with her husband nd obliterate the proof of that very miracle.

Okay, MARY told "the Church" that she remained a virgin throughout the rest of her life??? Just exactly where, when and HOW did she do this?

And just, WOW, she proceeded to fool around with her husband (a)nd obliterate the proof of that very miracle. Where to start? "Fool around with her husband" - did/do you really think that? Do you "fool around" with your spouse? Is it sinful? Since Jesus was already born from Mary's virginal womb, according to prophecy, why was it required that she remain so? Did she have to submit to a physical examination in order to prove it? There were many in Jesus' day who didn't believe the claim and even mocked Jesus for it. Joseph himself, didn't believe her when she became pregnant and it took an angel to convince him to marry her anyway. I am hard pressed, too, why Mary's normal physical relationship with her legal husband after the birth of our Lord is viewed in any way as wrong or dirty or sinful. Methinks some celibate priests had "issues". You guys are now stuck with their dogmatic proclamations and are left to defend them or else to admit that they were wrong, and, Lord knows, y'all can't do that!

"And Calvinists don't worry about numbers..."

Obviously, why consider any validation that only offer further proof of failure. That's why I just consider all of the boorish behavior and lies about Rome from Calvinists to be nothing more than the death throes of a dying creed and of no real consequence other than a personal irritant.

I love to discuss Calvinism. It's such a misunderstood perspective. It actually takes some time to sort through all the disinformation that's been heaped on it for 500 years. It gets trashed by the elites who despise its championing of the middle class. It is reviled by papists who despise its reliance on Scripture and on the Holy Spirit. It is ridiculed as "puppetry" when no one can really explain how being God's puppet is a bad thing. 8~)

But what you find after wading through all the assaults is that it is simply a lovely alignment of men to God. God is in control of His creation because He is a benevolent, attentive Creator who thankfully doesn't leave His children to their own, corrupted devices. He intervened into history and sacrificed Himself for the sins which men cannot and will not redress themselves. That's how much He loved His children.

And men know this by the fact that God has given them faith in His perfect Son's sacrifice on their behalf. It is all grace, or an absence of grace. Either way, it's all God, all the time, in everything.

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." -- Colossians 1:16:17

Years ago while pregnant, I was struggling to load bags of groceries into the car in the rain. A young, Hispanic clerk was helping me, and suddenly she started to cry. I asked her what was wrong. She looked up and half-smiled and said something I had never heard before -- "I have some family problems. But I guess I should be thanking God instead of worrying because even these problems are from Him to help me, somehow. I thank Him for the good things, so I should thank Him for the hard things, too. Right?"

It had been a difficult pregnancy and I hadn't been in a very appreciative mood in quite awhile. But after that night, I was. And every day since I've tried to be.

Angels unawares.

That's Calvinism. 100% gratitude.

....coming from those who conduct a daily Inquisition whose purpose is to impose a Calvinist orthodoxy to the Religion Forum and rid it of any Catholic influence or voice.

What was your point, exactly? You make it sound like being an RC is a bad thing.

Calvinists don't worry about numbers because we are confident the Lord spoke about a wheat field and not a tares field.

Therefore, the world will become more and more Christian, according to His perfect will for this earth as the word of God goes out to all men and is multiplied.

Among the evidence for this trend is the fact that the church in Rome is bleeding membership.

As God wills.

"So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed." -- Acts 19:20

Actually, you did start it when you said in post# 1355:

The endless shrill tirade against "Rome" that takes place here on a daily basis, the fabricated images and outlandish lies told for no reason other than to damage the Church, the oh so carefully worded insults meant to finesse the rules and game the mods certainly aren't intended to promote Christian ecumenicalism.

Was it an intentional "set up" so that anyone/someone who replied could be smacked down for "making it personal"? I think Metmom was totally justified in illustrating just how many times in only the last month or so what was good for the "goose" was not also good for the "gander". It's called HYPOCRISY and some here are full of it!

why it’s so important that Mary was always a virgin her entire life

I suspect it has to do with the "thought" of Mary having sex..kinnda like thinking about your mother and father

Then there is the issue of a" holy set aside birth canal"

It is important because it is the truth. She could have had other children; that would have been consistent with her married status and certainly no sin. She just didn't, so it is a lie to say that she did.

The truth is that there is no way to know if it is a lie.. This is "taken on faith" in the infallibility of the church alone..

Then you should be easily able to provide an example of where this is so in the NT. Merely declaring that "brother" always means "cousin" is the argument of fools. And we aren't fools, so try a little harder to prove that Mary was indeed a sinner in denying her husband the foundational commands of God "The two shall cleave together" and "be fruitful and multiply". Because that is what you are saying, that Mary willfully violated the first and foundational commands of Go

AMEN

That's why they don't let just anyone become a mod, even though it is a concept that has apparently not been grasped by plenty of anti-Catholics.

Our job is to trust God and to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in truth. Where we find error, we reference God's perfect word, and that's about it. It's up to God to give ears to hear and eyes to see; to renew the mind to know the things of God; to take away the heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh that loves and worships Jesus Christ alone. Or not.

Amen! What a comfort it is to know that God is calling us to him and loves us more than we could ever love each other. I am NOT responsible for someone else's salvation because it is between them and the Lord whether or not they yield to his call. I used to anguish over the thought that someone could be in hell because I failed to tell them the Gospel. Now I know that God is who calls and he IS a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Only God can change the heart.

BB We agree about the main thing which is Christ died, was buried and rose again for our salvation that God gifts to us by grace through faith - you know, the GOSPEL.

DR E.Sometimes the writing here is so well-written you can actually hear the inflection of the words.

This caught my eye too!

Dr E. Sadly, many FRoman Catholics have given us plenty of evidence they do NOT "know the Gospel."

Actually I think you are being kind with the qualifier "many". I have yet to encounter a RC on FR that knows it. It's understandable, if RC's learned and believed The Gospel the power of their hierarchy falls away. Their church is no longer the conduit for their salvation.
