In a post just a few minutes ago, I encouraged tommix2 to read (or reread) the book of Esther, because he had stated something to the effect that the Jews shouldn't have inspired fear in their enemies by threatening to destroy them, which we know was no idle threat but one that was carried out.
Yes, it was real fear and taken in context, entirely justified.
The Book of Esther is one beautiful story.
