Where is that reference?

Under New Testament law, Peter asked the members of the Church to give 100 percent, and some were killed by God for lying about withholding some.

The word tithe means tenth.

This is not correct. First, in the story of Ananias and Sapphira, they were struck down not for withholding some but for lying (withholding some and representing it as the whole). Furthermore, Peter did not tell them to give 100%. http://bible-truths.com/tithing.html Give what you give joyfully. Do not let the exhortations of those who would build multi million dollar super sanctuaries financed by the banks and have their tongues bound by their debtors place you under the law.

>>...some were killed by God for lying about withholding some.<<

Yep. And the lying is what got them killed. They were even told they were free to give what they chose, as long as they were honest about it.

I was reading that scripture a couple weeks ago and a question suddenly hit me: Yes, they were killed, but did they lose their salvation?

“Under New Testament law, Peter asked the members of the Church to give 100 percent”

No “New Testament Law”.
Can you give us a verse where Peter asked members of the Church to give 100%?

Gracias!

Sorry, false doctrine alert! As a Mormon you can be excused for not knowing the actual reason Ananias and his wife were slain, but your effort to place false LDS doctrine into this thread must be addressed. Ananias was punished because he siught to lie to the Holy Spirit, as Peter makes very plain in the passage: ‘Was the property not yours, Ananias? So why have you plotted to lie to God?’
