A church council which met near Chalcedon on February 10, 753

Do you have actual full quotes from the council or any of the Popes you reference? In any case, IIRC, Chalcedon was a local council, not an ecumenical one binding on the whole church. The Second Council of Nicaea in 787 (ecumenical) supported the use of images and condemned the iconoclast heresy.

So then are you saying they flip flopped from condemning having images/idols in the catholic church to allowing them?...and if so why?
