When you want to know it will be shown to you. IMHO the gift of intelligence can be a burden and an obstacle. It seems intelligent to insist that everything be argued from Scripture. But some things cannot be argued from Scripture.
When you speak of priesthood, you speak of OT priesthood. Some reach to pagan referents to characterize the priesthood we profess.
But what if there is an entirely new sort of priesthood? It cannot be utterly unlike OT priesthood or that of the pagans, for if it were no one would use the same word for all three. But it could still be far more unlike those other two than one might be ready to imagine.
To me, as someone who pawed and clawed his way over the Bible looking for what it means to be in Love with Jesus, the language about being "in Christ", which Lewis points out now and then became a great hermeneutical key.
Also Paul's assertion that I had died! I had died and I must die!
My life is hid with Christ. The Spirit prays within me, especially when I do not know how to pray as I ought. Now I live "yet not I, but Christ lives in me."
From my point of view, this is not a matter of some ecstatic experience, not merely a matter of a more sharply honed intellect (though it may involve both of those things, and more.) It is rather the ontological fact of the new Life in Jesus, the Life of the Church. My moribund self is revivified with Christ's Spirit, so that I MUST be, somehow, "another Christ," because now it is His Spirit which makes me "a living soul." The Church too is a body, in some sense. But in that sense, whatever it might be, it is also vivified by the Spirit of Christ. And so it is Christ's body.
Now I have gone far enough in a teaching which ought to be reserved for those who seek it to learn rather than to combat it. When I taught on the Trinity two weeks ago, the first 40 minutes was about how to think about the doctrine, why it was the way it was, how it provides a key to Scripture, from the first verses of Genesis to the fathers and sons of Malachi, how it opens up the New Testament. And after the break I spoke about how we are caught up into the Trinity "in Jesus."
In my 'walk', in my offering of myself to Jesus as his 'minister', his lesser one -- which is at the root of the word, in my seeking to live as one loved, to do what one who need do nothing to be saved would do, this theme of Paul and of the Fathers became more and more important.
A wonder is proclaimed to us in the death and rising of the Lord. Shall we invite Him into our hearts as Lord and Savior and then ... go back to arguing on Free Republic, for crying out loud?

Is that Biblical enough for you? Does this mean, CAN this mean nothing more than God selected our name in the 'damned' column, hit ctrl-X, moused to the 'alive' column, and hit ctrl-V?
This is new LIFE here. Life for each, life for the body -- life made alive by the Spirit of Christ.
That is the reality, the new reality, and it changes everything.
And, to bring it all back home, it changes even the basic idea of priesthood, or part of it. Hint: it is not OUR life; it is not OUR priesthood.

What we Catholics think we have now we do not think to be the priesthood of mere men.
They were written by that time. That's all. Canonization did not take place until the end of the 4th century because many apologists and churches used additional books.
There is no doubt that most churches used pretty much the New Testament as we know it today, but only in addition to many other brooks now no longer considered acceptable. And this is the crux of the matter.
The Holy Spirit led the first generation of Christians following the end of the Apostolic Era to compile the Canon.
This is such clero-romnticism! Then who told them 200 years later to get rid of the books they were using all along supposedly under the Holy Spirit's guidance, such as the Shepherd of Hermas, the Didache, the Book of Enoch, the Epistle of Barnabas, the various Apocalypses, and various Gospels, etc.?
Does he say if they inhale?
How can that be when the OT says the Torah is to be observed forever because the Law is eternal?

Implying that Holy Spirit is involved with illegal drugs is

Nor is it particularly spiritually safe activity.
Implying, believing, etc. that Holy Spirit has nothing to do with Pentecostalism/Charismania
is at least as bad, if not worse.

Who could object to glossolalia and enthusiastic and apparently spontaneous praise of God and of His Son? Who could object to praying for miracles and healings? Not the popes!
When I'm elected pope, my motto will be, "Don't make me come up there." If somebody presents something for MY approval, I will take him at his word, look through the proposal, and will tend to approve it. I will do this KNOWING that if, later on, it turns out that they're all worshipping Gaia or whatever, I will have to rouse myself and kick some butt.
But it seems that in general, the Holy See tends to say, "Sure, whatever," with maybe some cautions about heresy and its consequences.
In other words, to approve of the Catholic charismatic movement is NOT AT ALL to approve of everything every group of charismatics may do. It is assumed they will remain orthodox and keep their promises.

BTW, probably 85-99% of the believable Heavenly visitations & visions have commented on the grass and flowers . . . how the grass and flowers spring right back after being walked on; how the colors are richer, more indescribably brilliant and alive; etc. etc.
Which . . . actually . . . in addition to being plenty Biblical is also rather plainly logical.
