the 4th child my sister in law has lost.. .That is just sorrowful. The poor woman. I think of Rachel.
The Ol' Mizris and I only have the one and I've explained to her that I get to die first or I'm cutting her out of my will.

Nice and simple point -- Rn doubted that Early Christians practised the same practises and believed the same beliefs as practised and believed in the Church. I posted extensive examples that her statement was wrong.Actually what I said was that there is no word from God in the scriptures that teach apostolic succession , the NT priesthood ,or the papacy ...you still have not given me any ..so I rest my case
The Roman catholic church has a man made Doctrine and has no authority from God

Do you think we were all born yesterday?
Given the evidence in many of the RC postings . . .
yesterday could be toooo long ago.
Though probably for many . . . they seem to come from 2 year olds.

My Grandmother (wife of a Pentecostal Minister) was a founding member of the WCTU.That is so cool! (not that I'm in favor of teetotal, but anyway...) Did you know her before she passed?

You're a Christian now? That's not apparent by your fruit. You won't be Judged? That's not what the Bible says. Yes, that is what the bible says... The Bible says that Iscool is a Christian? Let me check...nope. Not there. Does the Bible say that men will not be Judged? Let me check...nope. Not there. Iscool, you are still completely consistent; let me congratulate you.
Because I work to lead people to Jesus instead of to your religion indicates I have no fruits of the Spirit???
Firstly, I don't have a religion; I get to follow Christ. Secondly, the fruits that I refer to are the steaming piles of fruit that you so often leave masquerading as posts on FR.

They know that the letters of Ignatius are spurious but they use them anyway as a major authority for their Christianism... I don't know that the letters of Ignatius are spurious.

The YOPIOS crowd is reluctant to address the FACT that without widespread literacy and the means to mass-produce Bibles, what they call Christianity COULD NOT HAVE EXISTEDAmazing that Christianity managed to develop without the printing press huh? The epistles seemed to work..
Even today Evangelical churches are growing in China were bibles are forbidden ...The Holy Spirit seems to work pretty well

Best to ignore all which cannot be proven as authentic.
Well put. Thx
By that account, who can prove any of the NT? Are there any NT writings still in existence? How do we know that the Church simply didn't forge every single NT book? Do you have proof?

"thats name calling and against the rules" No its not. It is merely descriptive of a behavior. That you would associate it with specific FReepers speaks a lot about you and those who frequently act in a "Harpish" manner.

. For your edification, most Pentecostals eschew even the consumption of alcohol. What about peyote?

Again my initial question was "So really anyone can get to heaven by just living the Golden rule of Matt 25, correct?" Why that seems to be a silly question to me is that I cannot see how anyone could do that without the grace of God enabling and motivating him to do so.

What happened to him DEFIES what the Protestants claim is possible. HE WALKED AWAY. There is no evidence in the information you gave that this man was ever saved..
1Jo 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would [no doubt] have continued with us: but [they went out], that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

Are you saying the priest referenced earlier in post 11,345 as a fine example of a Charismatic Christian, smokes dope? Fr Corapi? I know he used to do crack.
To my knowledge he's not a pentecostal charismatic... I wouldn't have expected anyone to call him a charismatic except in the "engaging and/or captivating" sense.

presbyters are not priests and priests are not presbyters I'm sure this has been gone over, but still . . .
From the Online Etymology Dictionary:
priest O.E. preost, shortened from the older Gmc. form represented by O.S., O.H.G. prestar, O.Fris. prestere, from V.L. *prester "priest," from L.L. presbyter "presbyter, elder," from Gk. presbyteros (see Presbyterian). In O.T. sense, a translation of Heb. kohen, Gk. hiereus, L. sacerdos.

They will tell you they were never really married...lol. That's how they rationalize Protestant apostates: they were never regenerated (because the "saved" ones persevere), they never really believed.Actually it is the catholics that tell you they were never really married, in spite of say 15 years and 3 children ...it was never really a marriage in gods eyes (talk about reading Gods mind) and BINGO an annulment is given
Hypocrites
God will not be mocked folks

"Hmmm, seems to say that the holy scriptures ALONE are able to make one wise unto salvation" Only if those Scriptures are the Gospels. Everything else is merely supportive. However, those same Scriptures don't say what you say Scripture says without them.
