In reading the Catholic responses all I see are the continued efforts to pit "the Gospels" AGAINST the rest of scripture, as if they are contradictory and only one can be right. Perhaps it is because for some of them they know that the actual texts of the epistles and OT really ARE in contradiction to the Latin interpretations of the four Gospel books. Therefore, the four Gospel books must be said to be "right" and the rest of scripture must be wrong, or at least the four books must trump the rest of scripture. Very true, Forest Keeper. It's pretty astounding how easily FRoman Catholics dismiss the rest of the Bible. They don't have a defense of their faith based on Scripture, so they have to resort to wrongly believing the Christian faith is confined to Matthew 5. They do not understand Christ is speaking to believers here. He's telling them that since they have been given faith to believe in Him they will now live a life that glorifies Him.
This oft expressed Catholic idea is so at odds with their own Catechism that they do not need any help from us in discrediting it. So many FRoman Catholics treat the Bible in direct contravention to their own CCC that I hardly even take it seriously as a Catholic authority anymore.
Apparently the RCC catechism is a malleable as any other liberal document.

"lol. You think the Beatitudes are the New Covenant?" I wouldn't be so quick to laugh at God. Jesus, the Word, became incarnate to be our model of holiness. On the Mountain of the Transfiguration, God commanded: "Listen to him!.
Jesus said: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me." "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me." and gave us the Beatitudes.
Jesus is the model for the Beatitudes and of the New Covenant: "Love one another as I have loved you." This love requires an honest offering of oneself after His example.
Those of us who believe in Beatitude and are on this "narrower" path encourage our brethren by example, and bear striking witness "that the world cannot be transfigured and offered to God without the spirit of the beatitudes. Some live their situation in the spirit of the Beatitudes, loving God and serving our neighbors as we would be served. Others choose a different path as Original Sin permits.

The New Covenant is of grace. It is not the old covenant of works.
Learn the difference.

Actually, I don't offer it -- Christ offers peace and salvation. Come to Christ, in Christ's Church. His Church, the One Holy Apostolic Catholic Church. Come, experience a personal relationship with Christ in the Eucharist.
Come and be saved in the biblical way. We worship God alone as evidenced in the Divine Liturgy, the Mass.

Do you happen to recall the Trinitarian claim that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit made a pact of their actions by a member of the Reformed? No, and apparently you don't either.

"The New Covenant is of grace. It is not the old covenant of works." Do not pretend to lecture me. I can't take seriously those who wear their bizarre belief systems as a mark of individuality like some horrid hat or tie. I have seen nothing in any of your posts that would indicate you know the difference between grace and works or between the Old and New Testaments.
The Calvinist creed is not based upon the Gospels. It proclaims Christ in name only, but disregards His teachings, interpreting them bassackwards through the letters of Paul and the musings and fever dreams of Reformist would be apostles and popes. Whatever it may be it certainly isn't Christian.
I would admonish you to learn the difference, but I seriously doubt you have the desire or capacity.

You proved my point, what more is there to say but: I agree. Your proof contradicted your original statement. Recognizing this is sufficient. I have little use for or desire in further effort determining which of the two is your real position.
lol. The above type of post is common among newbies who haven't yet learned more is required of them than a simple "I like my words better so you're wrong."

The New Covenant is the fact that the legalism of the Old Covenant of works does not save men I just read, on the Vatican site, a writer who said the same thing. It's interesting the various opinions catholics have about Rome says or not.

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Why do you constantly hurl the word Calvinist as if it were an insult ? Hurl? I thought I was typing it.
You are giving me the impression that Catholic women are vexatious ;)
I have no control over your thoughts. Think as you please. ;-D

Are you really that Scripturally illiterate? Stating that "pride goeth before a fall" is not scripturally illiterate. It's a common statement. Are you really that culturally illiterate?

You confuse the true meaning of Christianity with the sanctified life of the believer. The former is the reason men are saved. The latter displays that salvation. Oh, PLEASE tell me you "display that salvation."
