Exactly. I don't know if the hypocrisy is greater or the irony. But it's all about how it feels. Never mind what the Word of God actually says. It *feels* right...the vision *looked* pretty...I got *goosebumps*...it must be right because *I* can't be fooled...and on and on it goes.

The Bible is also silent on the question of which books make up the Bible.

Catholics acknowledge that there are questions such as this that are left unanswered by the Bible itself.

Moving on, then, is there a particular passage in Scripture that says that Mary died?

Why don't you worship Joseph, along with Mary? No particular passage reported Joseph's death. Is this proof God took him bodily into heaven?

The only two Biblical accounts of God taking a person into heaven involve Enoch and Elijah. An epistle reported that Michael disputed with Satan over Moses' body. Michael rebuked Satan in Jesus' name. The Bible reports that Moses was present during Jesus' transfiguration.

So, when are you going to build that shrine to Jimmy Hoffa? Afterall, there's no body. Where's the account of his death, Biblical or otherwise?

I worship neither of them, but thanks for asking. :)

The fact is, Scripture tells us that Moses died. Scripture does not tell us that Mary did. No position that you take will change that.

Scripture doesn't tell us about the deaths of millions of people living at the time it was written, so they must not have died.

Do you realize that the majority of what your church believes and teaches is based on what the Bible DOESN’T say? And what fallible men have decided it MEANT to say, or said between the lines of Scripture?

I truly believe you both are asking sincere questions.

I think you both have agreed in your recent posts that there are things left unstated by the Bible.

You may sincerely believe that Catholics take things too far, or teach distortions or worse, but I urge you to consider what Catholics themselves teach, which is that truly important questions left unanswered in the Bible may need to be addressed in unambiguous teaching so that Christians will be edified rather than led astray.

I haven’t taken the position here that, if it isn’t in Scripture, it didn’t happen. I appreciate the thought, though!

Who decided which books belong in the Bible, and which do not — could that decision possibly have been made by fallible men?

What’s the difference between “Hail Mary,” and “Hail Ceaser?”

Both are expressions of worship.

The Holy Spirit working through men. For man, from God. Because if it were left entirely to fallible men, the Apocrypha would be included.

We both know what happened to Caesar! :)

As for the greeting to Mary, it is straight from Scripture, Luke 1:28. I don't think you're suggesting that the angel was worshipping Mary, because it seems clear that this was a greeting.

Were those men fallible, or not? And how do you know they made the right choice?

Because the Holy Spirit was at work in these men. For man. From God. Not the Catholic Church.

But I do not think the Catholic church denies that the Holy Spirit was at work in these (certainly otherwise fallible, right?) men to inspire them to make the right choice.

Why would you say that the Catholic church could not have been involved?

Perhaps it’s a good thing I restrained myself on Post #159.

Dude! What are you 2 years old?

My objection was to your 4 letter word on this thread.

whatever else you said is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Both are expressions of worship.

LOL, no.

Hail, used as an interjection, comes from the Old Norse heill, meaning health. It is a salutation, one that has come to have a sense of acclamation to it (eg. hail to the chief).

You didn't ask him if he worships the President.
