There is a duality to Protestantism and Protestants that I can't fathom. Individually, the Protestants I know are decent “God fearing” people, moved by the best Christian motives. However, there is something about Catholicism that drives them literally nuts.

Sadly so. Spiritual blindness maybe?

False teachings is a good place to start...

....these issues common to the practices of the majority of catholics have always been a source of contention...the battle will equally continue to rage as it has for centuries.... The “reformation” continues though at somewhat a more respectable level than prior centuries..but the issues will not rest as we see the heavenly battle for truth play out in the circles of debate here on earth.

Both sides believe the other is misleading the masses....but in the end each individual will determine the side of truth they choose to stand with and fight for. That is the reality of the situation.

Christ sets us free....and for that freedom to believe as one determines the truth to be. Some will choose to abide by that of regulations, rules, rituals and massive amounts of traditions He never imposed on us. Others prefer to walk by faith...”The just shall live by faith”....and following Christ as He taught us to do. Restricting that freedom, or dictating what that shall be thru traditions and rituals will always distract from the centrality of Christ IMO and thru the investigations I have done on both sides of the issue.

Again...each will determine the side of truth they will stand with. Learning much about the catholic faith from the Fr threads and the references given over these months...as well as personal investigation....My conclusions have lead me to that of standing with the truth of Christ alone and His written word as the authority and the standard over any other traditions or perceived ideas of a hearsay dictating what some believe to be otherwise in their teachings within the catholic faith.

Perhaps that they know so many that are simply feeling ‘comfortable’ in membership to the Catholic church with no knowledge of their salvation, no biblical understanding, and in fact (especially in many Latin cultures) actually being instructed that they don’t need to ‘study’ the bible, to ask a priest for clarification. I used to believe this was a protestant ‘misstatement’ but I have seen it in south America.
