The Son was not 'eternally begotten', he was begotten in time.(Ps.2)
Before the 2nd person of the Trinity became the Son, he was the Word and always existed with the Father,(Jn.1:1) as did the Holy Spirit.

Before the 2nd person of the Trinity became the Son, he was the Word and always existed with the Father, That's what "eternally begotten of the Father" means. The contrary position, that Jesus is the incarnation of some created demigod who came into existence at a particular point of time, is the heresy of Arianism.

Before the 2nd person of the Trinity became the Son Oh, and the 2nd person of the Trinity was always the Son of the Father. He became the Son of Mary when he entered into creation in the Incarnation.

**he was begotten in time**
I have been led to believe that God has no time. Man cannot understand it fully since we think in analog — one after the other second, minutes, hour, day, year, etc.
