Here Jesus had the perfect opportunity to play off that and elevate Mary to the position which the Catholic church does, and He did not. HE put her back in her proper perspective, that is that she is no different than any other human being.

Like 11:27-28 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

God is no respecter of persons. We shouldn't be either.

LOL, nice cut-n-paste. You ignore, among many other parts of the Holy Writ the reality of Our Lord’s obedience - try the Miracle of Cana for one. Our Lord did the will of His Mother, even though He knew it was not His time yet.

That is more a statement on the initial speaker where Christ tells him/her “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” —> saying that one should obey the Word of God.

God promised someone from the House of David - there was no happenstance about that

God chose His Ark of the New Covenant, just as He directed the building of the Ark of the First Covenant. And just as that First Ark is Holy not because of itself but rather because it had to be made Holy, made full of grace to hold the Law, so too had the Second Ark to be made Holy, to hold The Christ.

The reason why we venerate Mary is not because of what she was (a creature made holy by God), but because she ACCEPTED God's will. She did nothing, nothing at all, except accept God's will. That is all God asks of us, that's why he says "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." --> I love to repeat about St. Peter. We consider him as the leader of the Apostles, but have you noticed that nearly everywhere in scripture he comes across as a bumbler, a simpleton? Jesus rebukes him many times, but yet we hold St. Peter as a saint. Why? Because this simple fisherman had FAITH, blind, utter belief in Christ. He failed Christ probably many times, but he was a simple believing man and that's what God wants of us.
