All you have contributed to this thread is sarcasm, name-calling and criticism of the Religion Moderator.

I’ve been reluctant to agree with some that so much of what we see hereon has been generated by demonized hearts, spirits, minds.

Increasingly, it’s obvious there’s little other adequate explanation.

I’ve always been aware that demonization has been a significant factor in the postings of some rabid sorts . . . I was just reluctant to see it as having a wider influence and source of the root of such.

However, watching the manifestations on this thread, it seems to be an inescapable conclusion.

I’m not sure what all is going on—certainly demonic forces are more intensely active as the END TIMES STUFF WINDES UP to more and more of a fever pitch.

And maybe that’s part of it—playing on fears . . . and seeing their sacred oxen gored so thoroughly . . . some are losing a grip on what civility they used to have.

Pinging Jim Robinson and ridiculing the RM is a lot more than a “joke.”

Good night. Hope tomorrow is better for all of us.

For those HIDDEN IN CHRIST

I doubt being open, vulnerable and honest is likely to be dumb in very many contexts.

Certainly there is a place for wisdom as a guide.

Hereon, I think that kind of openness, honesty and vulnerability was far from dumb.

You are not at your best when you are at your most cynical, imho.

There can be a time for . . . accurately calling cynicism for what it is . . . and probably even for being cynical in some contexts.

There is not a time for letting cynicism pollute one’s heart.

IF BY CYNICAL WE MEAN HAVING A BRUTALLY CANDID APPRECIATION FOR THE TRUE FACTS OF A BAD-FAITH SATURATED SITUATION OR PERSPECTIVE.

...the RC Sunday service recites a line here and there from the Bible. However, there is no solid preaching from the Scriptures. There is no sermon where the word of God is taught and appreciated.

One-hundred percent WRONG! There is a 3-year cycle of Sunday readings from the Old Testament and the epistles and Gospels. Three readings at each Sunday Mass, and they are not a "line or two", but substantial readings, each consisting of several paragraphs.
The priest is also expected to focus his homily on the readings, and most priests do. I don't know what church you attended Mass at, and if the priest is not discussing the Word, that's not right. The priests I'm familiar with all give excellent, in-depth sermons on the Scripture readings and relate them to the Christian life.

adoration of fallible human beings

Catholics don't adore anyone but God. We do not adore Mary, and you know that.

You know the word "cynic" is kin to the Greek word for
um
DAWG!

Throughout my alleged ministry I have TRIED, but sometimes my vanity gets the better of me, simply to be there, and let God handle it.

It's a little Karl Rogers, but a lot "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be still."

I really have to try to sleep now.

I suppose the remarks may be true somewhere, but not in any church I've been to (well, maybe one) since I swam the Tiber. Sometimes I feel like at Bible class.

Today we had the most wonderful little homily looking at Martha's exchange with IHS when He comes to Bethany because Lazarus has died. And since the OT reading was Jeremiah's visit to the potter, it was good to be told we were in the hands of a God eager to remake us into creatures of Faith.

I get to hear wonderful sermons.

By any other name the GOd of Calvinism is Allah. The parallels between Mohammed and Calvin and between Islam and Calvinism are indeed striking. One need only look beyond the words taught by both men to their actions in dealing with rivals and adversaries to appreciate the sameness. The greatest irony is that if a person’s salvation is predestined then the extreme methods by both Calvin and Muhammad were unnecessary, God certainly did not need their help. John Calvin’s methods were akin to Muhammed’s, by fear and intimidation, “by the sword”.

So please explain why your Roman Catholic Church esteems the moselems so much ? Is is because of the sword thingy ?

Wow ! Lookie there... they even make it official doctrine showing the similarities between islam and Rome

http://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_decl_19651028_nostra-aetate_en.html

DECLARATION ON THE RELATION OF THE CHURCH TO NON-CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS
NOSTRA AETATE
PROCLAIMED BY HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI ON OCTOBER 28, 1965

3. The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems.
They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,
(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees,
just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God.
Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet.
They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call on her with devotion.
In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead.
Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.

Since in the course of centuries not a few quarrels and hostilities have arisen between Christians and Moslems,
this sacred synod urges all to forget the past and to work sincerely for mutual understanding and to preserve
as well as to promote together for the benefit of all mankind social justice and moral welfare, as well as peace and freedom.

RCs may say they don’t adore Mary, but their actions and words prove otherwise. Some of the many blasphemous titles given by Rome to a simply Jewish girl...

1. “The mother of the members of Christ” (par. 963)
2. Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, & Mediatrix (CCC 969)
3. “Queen over all things” (par. 966)
4. Spouse of the Holy Spirit (www.vatican.va)
5. Mary Queen of the Apostles
6. Queen of angels
7. Queen of prophets
8. Holy Mother of God
9. Mother of the Church
10. Mother of divine grace
11. Mirror of justice
12. Seat of wisdom
13. Mystical rose
14. Tower of David
15. Morning star
16. Gate of heaven
17. Queen of peace
18. Queen of the universe
19. Cause of our joy
20. Glory of Israel
21. Ark of the covenant
22. Refuge of sinners

dot...dot...dot...

"I've just about had it with being called a liar"

For the record I did not call you a liar. I only referenced the [lack of] truthfulness of your posting history and stated that I have absolutely no reason to believe anything you post. I absolutely, categorically reject your every statement. I also stated that as long as your posting history was available I saw no way of you rehabilitating your credibility.

Don't blame me, I am not the one who posted the fake stories of Nazi Popes, posted doctored photos of fake Catholic images or tried to pass off bogus anti-Catholic websites as nihil obstat. I only held up a mirror to it.

ABSOLUTELY.

And I don’t care how thick the rationalizations nor on how many starched white hankys they are written

they still won’t wash before ALMIGHTY GOD.

NOR BEFORE MARY HERSELF.

I was an altar boy in the early 1960’s and served at the Traditional Latin Mass, and I never got to serve at a High Mass. We only had the High Mass once a month at our parish, as I recall.

Yet this bitterly anti-Catholic Calvinist from the OPC has a bunch of close relatives who are Catholic, has attended many Masses herself, and was a bridesmaid at three (count ‘em, THREE) Nuptial High Masses?? She also claims to have a better knowledge of the nature and frequency of the Mass readings than the Catholics here who attend every week.

My parents were married in 1951 at a wonderful Catholic parish and they didn't even get a High Mass. It was an exceedingly rare thing.

Strains the bounds of credulity.
