Actually Reaganaut, I was stating a concern over those that would consistently misrepresent our views & doctrines as you did recently w/ your inference that our leaders & church taught & accepted the “white horse prophecy” as doctrine, etc. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth, yet thet didn’t seem to stop you.

Godzilla has been caught doing likewise w/ incomplete & partial quotes that didn’t tell the whole story on this very thread. It’s sad that some of you feel the necessity to conduct yourselves in such a way. And to what end? The Lord’s work? Do you really feel the Lord approves of that conduct. Rarely, if ever, are apologies forthcoming. It’s just on to the next misrepresentation.

Others have asked as to why we no longer debate you folks as much anymore. That’s one of the big reasons. Who wants to spend day after day doing the research to find your fallacies, misrepresentations, distortions, etc.? I for one, no longer have the time nor the inclination, as I suspect is true for others here. The fallacy of the “white horse prophecy” has been discussed here before, but that didn’t stop you from bringing it up once again, even though it has been thoroughly debunked. That’s how you folks roll.

If caught in deception, wait a month or two, then bring it up again w/ a different group seems to be your strategy. Trust me, you’re losing more to your cause than you’re gaining. To each his own.

It’s really a shame. Most of you folks are really very bright. The intellectual discussions we could have would be very interesting to say the least. But often, you folks refuse to play above board.

I won’t play in the sandbox. It’s all yours. Carry on.

Interesting that the official LDS statement only states that the 'prophecy' has not been historically verified, nor has it been officially embraced as doctrine. Yet the belief (probably by personal prayer and revelation) by many mormons still exists - shown recently this political cycle by a mormon candidate for Idaho Governor/Lt Gov, iirc -who called the priesthood into meetings on it. However, as with many controversial mormon teachings, the lds has carefully tried to sculpt history surrounding it (just like the Adam/God doctrine). President Benson seemed very confident of the inspiration of this prophecy in “Our Divine Constitution,” Ensign, Nov 1987. Is this 'prophecy' out of line with others more directly tied to smith - no, there are at least 3 other similar prophecies. One occurred July 19, 1840, in Nauvoo, when the prophet spoke about the redemption of Zion. Like most other uncomfortable aspects of mormonism - obfuscation and selective inspiration is the norm.

LOL, right reno, such as or are you going into more "lying for the Lord" mode? Or are you refering to yourself and misrepresenting statements by your prophets?

Who wants to spend day after day doing the research to find your fallacies, misrepresentations, distortions, etc.?

Yep, gets kinda old trying to defend the undefendable, huh reno.

You put this claim out here as if you presented proof. The quotes I gave concerning the White Horse prophecy WERE in context (as are quotes I post on many subjects) and do show that your leaders taught. I have NEVER misrepresented LDS views, I don’t need to since I have the sources to back it up and a reading of those sources show that the quotes are IN CONTEXT and accurate.

However, thank you for displaying typical LDS liberal response...spin, claim victory, and then leave. If mormons told the truth, and answered questions honestly, then perhaps we wouldn’t have to go over the same topics every single time.

There have been no lies, misrepresentations, or distortions on my part, and not ‘debunking’ of my claims on your part. Saying I am distorting things, does not make it true.

I guess we are all just waiting for ANY mormon on these threads to tell us, even just PARTIALLY, what JS learned to be UNTRUE about PRESBYTERIANism of his day.
