I have answered your question on more than one occasion. I consider your posts to be nonsense and annoying.

They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices.
Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols.
To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their fathers did.

You do a great job.

But; it appears; that your opinion is NOT universal...

Yeah, MAMBLA sounds like a Brazilian dance club.

Did the scoundrel and villain Shanley help found NAMBLA? Just wow.

So what do you want from me here? You do get that my question to TSgt was a bitter joke mocking the my even more ill-tempered than myself co-religionists, right?

Sometimes I get the impression that you all think it’s a great surprise to us that a lot of priests and a significant number of bishops are dopes, and worse.

But when I was 11 and first detected what I thought was a “call’ to orders (and maybe it was), I knew ->I<- was far too foul a sinner to ever think I deserved in any way to be a clergyd00d.

These days I joke that when the Church comes to her sense and elects me pope, my motto will be, “But wait! There’s MORE!”

But even in my pubescent callowness I thought my moot should be, “Don’t confuse the salesman with the product.”

Pipes shot through with rust can still deliver clear and sweet water. While I happen to love my current crop of Friars, I don’t go to church for THEM. I go for Jesus. I went when the priests were heretical dopes, and I go when they’re good, pious, and learned friends. I go for Jesus, not for them.

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed:
and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

The BIBLE calls Joseph Smith cursed!!

Galatians 1:7-10
 7.  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
 8.  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
 9.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

If one believes the Bible is correct, then, by that Standard, Mormonism fails the test.

If, however, you are convinced that the Bible is either in error, been corrupted or mis-interpreted, then you are free to believe whatever you wish.

The LDS teach that there are 3 Gods, that ?Heavenly Father? was once a man like us, that the 3 Gods are one ONLY in purpose, that 2 have a body of flesh and bone, and that the point of us coming to earth (from a pre-existent state) was to gain a body and learn to become gods over our own planet.

NOW you've done it!

Trying to say what we believe again: with the purpose of bashing us MORMONS!

You hateful ANTIs KNOW that we believe in just ONE god!!!

and that HE happens to have TWO physical bodies!!)

And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

In John 1, the Baptist refers to Jesus as follows: he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!". (John 1:29) Any Jew would have understood this to mean one who would be killed as a propitiation of sins.

Naw...Not a single Jew in the first three Gospels knew that...

In all of the Gospels Jesus quite clearly states that he will be arrested, beaten, killed, and on the third day rise again. See, e.g., Luke 18:32-33.

Now why wouldn't you also recommend reading verse 34???

Luk 18:32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
Luk 18:33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
Luk 18:34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

I DO believe it’s horribly more common and more spiritually devastatingly more common than you seem to remotely be close to believing.

Well, I don't know. I first heard the, "Shut up, I'm talking to your mother!" joke from a Catholic.

I think I 'get' the talk about religion and all. So I'll add that some people think they are worshipping God but they SEEM, at least, to put their trust in their devotions. To me, one hint of this is the tendency I see to multiply and, what, ramify things like the Rosary.

For me, there's quite enough going on there already, but many of my co-religionists make saying the rosary all fopped up with little extras here and there. Surely somewhere in there is EXACTLY what IHS was talking about when he said they think God will hear them for the manyness of their words (or whatever He actually said.)

BUT, looking at my own life, I put a lot of faith in "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good." And even the occasional Pharisee gets the divine and salvific boot in the trousers. Maybe today extravagent gestures and multiplied prayers are the best they think they can do. But tomorrow, God may smack them up 'side the haid. I've seen it before. I hope to see it again.

Based on what you've said about the "Gospel of the Kingdom," you're basically telling us that the Gospels aren't even Christian!

The Gospels are Jewish...In fact, the entire bible is Jewish...

God reached down in the middle of the New Testament and pulled up a Jew to mess with the heads of the rest of the Jews and He created His church made up of forbidden Gentiles and anyone else who would join it...

NOT that Jesus could not have said what He said . . . That Jesus did not say what RC’s claim He said and meant.

Of course, that has to be the position of the other side. But this seems to me to be like the non-Catholic reading of the "I am the bread" discourse. If we come to the passages in question with the notion that the papists are wrong, we will come out of the passages with that notion unbruised.

The whole power of the "Here are all the places where 'rock' is used in the Bible," argument depends on a view of the Bible which is not self-evident.

And then, Elsie's list and comments are tendentious. I mean only that there's a little assuming the thing to be proved going on.) It does not necessarily follow from the evangelists referring to Simon as "Peter" before the Caesaria Philippi incident that he had been called Peter before then. And, (I did only skim so maybe I'm wrong here) I saw no account of how Simon son of Jonah is referred to in Scripture are Cephas - in Paul's writings and in the Gospel of John. This at least COULD be understood as vitiating the Petra/Petros argument, by suggesting that "Cephas" was what was said before they started writing stuff in Koine so "Petros" was not a word distinct form Petra but the stem petr- with a masculine ending on account of the guy-ness of Peter.

Etc.

No, we're not surprised that you are aware of it. Nor are we surprised that Catholics for the most part, won't even acknowledge it.

It sure would be nice to hear many of your fellow Catholics recognize it. A simple, *Yup, the Catholic church history is nothing to brag about. They were wrong.* would go a long way.

Of course, I doubt that many would go as far as saying they were doing what they could to fix it and try to get it back on track, not wanting to wear the label of *reformer*.

The last group of people trying to fix up the RCC didn't fare so well at its hands.

AMEN!

I have a Bible with the HEBREWisms left intact. It makes for a steep learning curve, looking up the words in the glossary; but after a while, you begin to know them and the verses take on a very rich and rewarding fullness!

With just a LITTLE effort; a person could make their OWN list!

And their OWN comments; too!

The bottom line is that if you take a stand for the light, you should be prepared to receive resistance from the darkness.
