Most of the ones I know who went ‘inactive’ got hooked on drugs/alcohol or were promiscuous. The legalism of the LDS tends to give way to ‘sin like you mean it’ and excess.

I discussed this with an LDS friend (active) who agreed that, even in her life, it is either legalism or license. It gave me a great opportunity to explain liberty in Christ to her.

Interesting. The life of Martin Luther is instructive as well.
