You are right on most of your points but when you say that Jesus calls for works, I have a problem. Jesus only preached to Israel in His ministry. Rightly dividing the scriptures comes into play here. Jesus came to preach to Israel about “The Kingdom” The Church came after Jesus ascended to Heaven, through Paul in The Acts. Paul did not preach works to the Church while the other apostles went out to preach to the House of Israel. They were instructed to keep to their covenant which of course was keeping God's Laws (works) Like I said, you have to separate The House of Israel and the Kingdom form the Church and the dispensation of Grace.

Exactly.... good post fish hawk.... and this is where just reading scripture and the study of scripture are two seperate things altogether...Christ tells us to "study" the scripture as one approved of God....rightly dividing the word of truth." Which tells us if you don't study you are a target for counterfeit teachings. Again, so much of the counterfeit teachings stem from the fact many Christians do not study His word...let alone examine the teachings they are taught by false teachers..and these are a dime a dozen in the Mormon church as well as others.
