I suppose I was simply unaware of the effectiveness the tactic apparently has. I can only judge from experience, and know that sort of blitz witnessing attack has driven many people away from Christ, so am generally against it.

I am certainly not one who goes by the “go along get along” mode of thinking. There are grounds that need to be held, I realize. However I also know that there are ways to fight a battle that are more effective.

Still, in any battle you have multiple units performing multiple duties. I suppose it makes sense that some would stick to the full frontal attack while allow others to focus on the method of educating the masses.

I think the religion itself is flawed and dangerous, and is to be avoided. But the people are frail and fallen, just like the rest of us, so I pray for them instead of hating them.

Agreed and thank you for the clarification. And NONE of us here HATE Mormons, even if we may hate the LDS church, because of its false teachings and that it lies to its membership. And we do pray for them, we even have a special ping list and day (thursday) set aside for prayers for the LDS, although most of us pray for those in Mormonism several times a day.

Us ‘flying inmans’ (those of us antis on these threads) love the LDS, if we didn’t we would leave them be rather than try to get them to see the light. many of us have friends and loved ones who are still trapped in Mormonism. It would be hateful just to let them go to Hell (which is where they are sadly headed) without putting up a fight.

We are accused of hating Mormons often, but if you read these threads you will see the real hate is directed at US not us hating the Mormons.

courtesy ping to all the inmans.

And there are multiple ways of witnessing to the LDS, even what you see on here.

Some are snarky, some are more measured, some are more intellectual and some speak from experience.

In ministry to the LDS there are those that are ‘full frontal attacks’, there are those who are online, those who hand out tracts during their pagents or at temple square, those who have TV shows, those who have radio ministries, those who do research to support others, billboards...

there are the quiet ones who support the vocal ones in prayer. Some are more gentle than others, however you must realize that the standard response of the LDS is to attack ANYONE WHO IN ANY WAY QUESTIONS THEY ARE FULL TRUE CHRISTIANS, OR QUESTIONS THEIR HISTORY OR DOCTRINES (caps for empahsis not yelling).

If you agree with the LDS they are ‘sweeness and light’, but the minute you QUESTION ANYTHING all of a sudden you are an ‘anti’, evil, hatefull, and you are attacked. Several people on these boards were shocked at how their Mormon friends treated them after they started asking simple questions.

You have to have a thick skin to witness actively to the LDS, because you WILL be attacked, even if you are kind gentle and loving.

Mormonism is a hard shell to break, and only God can really reach them, but HOW He reaches them (through us) is done in many different ways.

FWIW, the Christians who ‘got through to me’ were the ones that really, really ticked me off, those who made me mad enough to ‘prove them wrong’. When I discovered they were right about LDS doctrine/history, it made me MORE (not LESS) willing to listen to them about Christ and what the Bible said.

Well, it's not just the active mormons or the non-mormons that are being informed here. There are many who question the faith and FR can be an area where they don't have to expose themselves to any scrutiny in learning about the heresy, sordid past and creation of mormonism.

I truthfully believe that if I had gone to the bishop of my ward and told him of my concerns about mormonism, I would have been told to pray about it more. If I had pursued it, I very well could have been disfellowshipped or excommunicated. Although now, that wouldn't be such a bad thing as it would've saved me the paperwork to resign my membership in the lds church.

FR was an oasis for me. I lurked, then joined, then defended mormons, got my knickers ripped, then lurked again, then openly renounced mormonism here on FR.

The key thing here though, is that the folks posting this information are those who, although I didn't use the most polite language, showed patience and love for me. They helped me to recognize that I was living a lie.

Yeah, I got my knickers ripped when I posted some inane comment about the posters, but I deserved it. I didn't hold it against anyone.

There are many on these threads who don't know the difference between reading to comprehend or reading to be offended. Too many choose the latter as opposed to posting a cogent and reasonable reply. You'll see many make it quite personal, dancing right on that line the RM has created between acceptable and unacceptable behavior.

Again, it's not just about those who are active, it's also about those who are like I was. Reading, learning and hopefully recognizing that mormonism, the religion, is a lie and ultimately escaping from its clutches.
