“older” Christian which I should have noted in my post at 376 has little to do with physical age.

Any good upstanding righteous Christian would never dream of NOT tithing. If its a REQUIREMENT for going to the celestial kingdom, thats Gods call, not mine and not yours. There is so much wrong with this post I don't even know where to begin.
There ARE NO GOOD UPSTANDING RIGHTEOUS CHRISTIANS! Yes, I'm yelling. Cover your ears but for heaven's sake, open your eyes sandy.
We are sinners. Sinneres, sinners, sinners. We are filthy in our sin. We can do NO good.
But for some wonderful, unfathomable reason, God gave us Jesus so He could bear to look upon our filthiness and call us His children.
Tithing is ridiculous. It all belongs to God! We have NOTHING!
There is no Celestial KIngdom. There is something much, much better, beyond our wildest dreams. Heaven. One heaven for all who believe. Where we can stop striving and finally be who we were meant to be and worship God forever with all our fellow believers. No tears, no pain, no "progressing".

Since I, as a born-again Christian and a student of the bible, KNOW that tithing is not a requirement, I would run away from any church that required, demanded or pressured its members into tithing.

Exactly. An emphasis on money is a sure sign of a legalistic church.

If its a REQUIREMENT for going to the celestial kingdom, thats Gods call, not mine and not yours. Very good sandy, you've been coached by a missionary I see.
Reg, take a look in that little missionary book you have. Over and over again it shows how LDS defer people away from pesky doctrine, like excluding blacks from the priesthood.
They are told to never discuss any particular doctrine with their "targets', but say exactly what Saundra just parroted, "If God says it must be so, I would never quation Him".
So, once you can get someone to pray that the book of Mormon is true, the rest is just shrugging your shoulders and saying, "oh well, no matter how this seems, the prophet says God demands it, so I'll do it."
The thinking has been done.
