A release is in effect another call. Men do not call themselves to offices in the Church.”

Prov. 18:13; “He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.”

Marion Romney said in Ensign, July 1973, pg. 89; “No one should seek to be appointed to any particular office in the Church. Such an aspiration is not a righteous desire; it is a self-serving ambition…We should demonstrate that desire by living the gospel and diligently performing whatever service we are called upon to render. Holding a particular office in the Church will never save a person. One’s salvation depends upon how well he discharges the duties of the service to which he is called.”

To be called or to receive a calling to serve in the Church simply means the bishop will call someone when a position needs to be filled, i.e. Sunday school teacher, Young Men’s group, etc. As you can see it is not that God has called that person to be a youth pastor for his life or a choir director; as a result the Church is filled with people ill-equipped in leadership roles.

2 Cor. 4:1-2; “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.”

There ya have it: Mormonism's 'Bootstrap' religion vs. God who sent His Son down to die for the lost, the blind, the spiritually disabled, those in bondage, those sick, and those spiritually dead.

Spencer W. Kimball made it clear that “Trying is not sufficient” (Miracle of Forgiveness, 164). President Joseph Fielding Smith wrote, “To enter the celestial and obtain exaltation it is necessary that the whole law be kept…” (The Way to Perfection, 206). Within mormonism the sacrifice of Christ is totally unnecessary. heavenly father became a god without it, adam became a god without it as well as the multitudes of other gods before Jesus. All one has to do is perfectly keep all of the eternal law perfectly and at all times. The bible shows that this 'gospel' is clearly a lie -

1Jo 1:8 KJV - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:10 KJV - If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

This is the impossible 'gospel' of mormonism. The TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ frees us from the bondage of such law -

“Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary” (Galatians 3:19).

“But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian [the Law], for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith” (Galatians 3:25-26).

Christ “died for the UNGODLY” alone.

Mormonism is built on the heresy of human works
proving a mormon is “worthy” of the gospel
after “all they can do”.

This is the OPPOSITE of the Gospel of Grace.

Christ established a universal priesthood of
ALL those who have trusted Him for salvation
(ie. “the ungodly” who have recognized they
have nothing to contribute to their salvation)
- nor a remix of the Jewish priesthood.

None from this list. The apostle Paul says it frankly: faith in Jesus...'ongoingly' believing Jesus.

That's why even an 8 yo -- and younger -- can be saved. They know how to trust parents; and many likewise know how to trust the Ultimate Father, God.

Even mentally retarted individuals love, relate, and trust. The Christian Gospel can be grasped by them. God doesn't develop a long "to do" list to join His family, 2 Nephi 25:23 Book of Mormon style. That's just not the way a true father operates.

The Apostle Paul is also very frank about this in another letter:

Eph 2:9 KJV - Not of works, lest any man should boast.

LDS - do you boast about your works? How many of you when you give your child a birthday or Christmas present withold it until they have paid you for it? Yes, even an 8 year old can understand the concept of ‘gift’ and the gift of salvation is unconditional. Face it, there is absolutely nothing that can be done to earn any of it - Paul completely rules it out - other than faith in Jesus. That is the true beauty of the Gospel.

The gospel of mormonism is that referred to in Isaiah -

Isa 64:6 KJV - But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags (menstrual cloths); and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

It's more faultlines -- than faults. By measuring faultlines, experts can gauge likely future disaster zones and ensure proper codifications to protect against home and business collapses, thereby saving lives. You know, faultline finding is a pretty detailed and even "negative" business. You're just trying to diagnose locations; measure movement over a given year by mere inches. All for what? Protect vs. impending disaster.

A spiritual disaster is coming to many. Jesus said "wide is the road" leading to destruction & "narrow the way" to life. That wasn't exactly a rah-rah pep talk.

Other points: (1) By using the word "only," you seem to assume that you know what we do with our lives 24/7. (Hey, we can multi-task) Many of us also post in threads beyond Mormonism.
(2) What's really absurd is that your out-of-balanced concerned with how a "small group" spends its "electric time" each week; yet have you ever contacted a Mormon and asked them why they send out 52,000 Missionaries who spend two years of their lives, 6-days-a-week, 70 hours a week, who are seemingly "only...concerned" with the spiritual welfare of others?

What? Do you think Lds missionaries go around with a "positive message?"

Marion G. Romney, Mitt's dad's cousin, used to oversee the Lds missionary enterprise in the early 1960s. He taught Lds missionaries that one of the top four "talking points" was for them to mention the "universal apostasy" & restoration.

What's the "universal apostasy?" Lds believe ALL Christians are "apostates"-- that the Christian church universally abandoned the faith. (No different than Muslims who call us "infidels").

So, Raider, how 'bout you wondering why this "large group" (of 52,000 Lds missionaries; literally over a million sent out since 1830)...

That's an awesome question daelbert. I don't HAVE to do anything to be saved except turn my life over to Jesus.

However, we're ENCOURAGED to meet together. Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another".

We are not meant to walk alone and I love regularly joining with my fellow believers to sing and hear the Word.

But you could never go and it cannot affect your salvation.

Latter-day Saints don’t believe that the organization of the church saves them. Christ alone can do that.
